Մահացել է արվեստաբան Շահեն Խաչատրյանը:

Ծնվել է 1934թ. սեպտեմբերի 28-ին, Սիրիայի Հալեպ քաղաքում: 1946թ. տեղափոխվել է Հայաստան և շարունակել ուսումը Երևանի թիվ 29 միջնակարգ դպրոցում: Սովորել է Երևանի ֆիզկուլտուրայի ինստիտուտում, զբաղվել է լողով, 14 տարի զբաղվել է մարզչական գործունեությամբ: Վաղ հասակից երգել է եկեղեցական երգչախմբում, հետաքրքրվել է նկարչությամբ:

1959թ. աշխատանքի է ընդունվել Հայաստանի պետական պատկերասրահ, որտեղից մեկնել է սովորելու Լենինգրադի գեղարվեստի ակադեմիայի արվեստաբանական բաժնում` ստանալով արվեստաբանի դիպլոմ:

1967թ. նկարիչ Մարտիրոս Սարյանի առաջարկությամբ, նշանակվել է նրա նորաստեղծ թանգարանի տնօրեն, որտեղ աշխատել է մինչ 2005թ:

Իր թանգարանային գործունեությանը բնորոշ են հայ նկարիչների մասին լույս ընծայած բազմաթիվ հոդվածներ, հեռուստատեսային ելույթներ և տասնյակ ցուցահանդեսների կազմակերպում խորհրդային երկրների և արտասահմանյան մի շարք քաղաքներում:

Հեղինակել է բազմաթիվ գրքեր` «19-20-րդ դարերի հայկական արվեստ», «Ֆրանսահայ կերպարվեստ», «Հովհաննես Այվազովսկի», «Սարյան», «Պետրոս Կոնտրաջյան», «Մինաս», «Հակոբ Հակոբյան» և այլն, որոնց մի մասը հրատարակվել է նաև արտասահմանում` անգլերեն, ֆրանսերեն, իտալերեն լեզուներով:

Արվեստագետի ակտիվ գործունեության մաս է կազմել տարբեր երկրներից՝ Հովհաննես Այվազովսկու, Մարտիրոս Սարյանի, Վարդան Մախոխյանի, Ժան Գառզուի, Ժանսեմի ու այլ վարպետների հարյուրավոր գործերի վերադարձը Հայրենիք, որոնցով հարստացել են Հայաստանի թանգարանները:

Լույս է ընծայել երիտասարդ սերնդին նվիրված «Ճանաչիր և սիրիր» անվանումով պատկերագրքերի շարքը:

2004թ-ից աշխատել է Էջմիածնի Մայր տաճարում` որպես մշակութային խորհրդական և «Խրիմյան» թանգարանի տնօրեն:

Արժանացել է ԽՍՀՄ, ՀՀ և Ֆրանսիայի պետական պարգևների:
