Իսրայելում առաջին անգամ խաչակիրների ներխուժման ապացույցներ են հայտնաբերվել

Իսրայելում հնագետները հայտնաբերել են մետաղադրամներ, նետերի ծայրեր, պայտերի մեխեր եւ եվրոպական ռազմական ճամբարին բնորոշ այլ առարկաներ։ Սա Սուրբ հողում նման գտածոների առաջին դեպքն է, հայտնել է Planet-today-ը՝ Jerusalem Post-ին հղումով:
Խաչակրաց արշավանքները 11-13-րդ դարերի սուրբ պատերազմների շարք էին, որոնց ընթացքում եվրոպացիները փորձում էին մահմեդականներից ետ նվաճել Սուրբ հողը։ Թեեւ այս տարածքներում պահպանվել են բազմաթիվ արեւմտյան եկեղեցիներ եւ ամրոցներ, պատմաբանները գործնականում չունեն քրիստոնեական եւ մահմեդական ուժերի իրական ռազմական բախումների ապացույցներ:
Նախքան Նազարեթը Միջերկրական ծովի հետ կապող ճանապարհի վերակառուցումը իրականացված կանխարգելիչ պեղումների ընթացքում գիտնականներին հաջողվել է հայտնաբերել ֆրանկ զինվորների ռազմական ճամբարի հետքեր։ Պարզվել է, որ դա խաչակիրների ճամբար է Գալիլեայում՝ թվագրվող 12-րդ դարով: Հնագետները հայտնաբերել են հարյուրավոր մետաղական արտեֆակտներ, որոնք վկայում են այն մասին, որ այստեղ գոյություն է ունեցել ժամանակավոր ռազմական բնակավայր Երուսաղեմի թագավորության օրոք՝ 1099-1291 թվականներին։
Ի տարբերություն հռոմեացիների, որոնք բառացիորեն ողողել էին Սուրբ հողը քարե եւ փայտե շինություններով, եվրոպացիների ռազմական ճամբարները ժամանակավոր էին, եւ, հետեւաբար, հնագետների համար դժվար է գտնել դրանց հետքերը: «Մենք բացառիկ հնարավորություն ունեցանք ուսումնասիրելու միջնադարյան ճամբարը, ավելին իմանալու խաչակիրների մշակույթի եւ առօրյայի մասին», - նշել է Հայֆայի համալսարանի հետազոտող Ռաֆայել Լյուիսը: Բացի մետաղադրամներից եւ պայտերի մեխերից, գիտնականները գտել են բազմաթիվ «արիստոկրատական արտեֆակտներ», ինչպիսիք են ոսկեպատ ճարմանդները:
Չնայած տեխնիկապես բոլոր խաչակիրները կռվել են Երուսաղեմի թագավորի դրոշի ներքո, նրանք եկել են տարբեր շրջաններից, որոնց թվում եղել են ռազմիկ վանականներ՝ տամպլիերներ եւ հիվանդախնամներ:
Ըստ պատմական տվյալների՝ մոտ 20.000 խաչակիրներ 1187 թվականի հուլիսի 3-ին լքել են այս ճամբարը՝ օգնելու իրենց դաշնակիցներին Տիբերիայում, որը պաշարման մեջ էր։ Հաջորդ օրը նրանք ոչնչացվել են սուլթան Սալահադինի զորքերի կողմից։ Այս հաղթանակը նշանավորել է մահմեդականների կողմից Սուրբ հող նոր ներխուժման սկիզբը, որոնք 1187 թվականի հոկտեմբերին գրավել են Երուսաղեմը:
