Երկրաշարժը տեղի է ունեցել ժամը 13:02-ին (Մոսկվայի ժամանակով 05:13-ին) 162 կիլոմետր խորության վրա, ասվում է զեկույցում:
Էպիկենտրոնը գտնվել է Իտուրուպի Ռեիդովո գյուղից 115 կիլոմետր արեւելք:
