Ադրբեջանցի դիվերսանտներ Դիլհամ Ասկերովի և Շահբազ Գուլիևի առնչությամբ Արցախի դիրքորոշումը չի փոխվել: Այս մասին «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց Արցախի նախագահի մամուլի խոսնակ Դավիթ Բաբայանն` անդրադառնալով ադրբեջանական լրատվամիջոցներում տեղ գտած այն հրապարակմանը, թե իբր Բեռնում դեկտեմբերի 19-ին ՀՀ նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանի և Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևի հանդիպման ժամանակ Ադրբեջանի նախագահը բարձրացրել է Դիլհամ Ասկերովին և Շահբազ Գուլիևին ազատ արձակելու հարցը:

«Մեր դիրքորոշումը մնացել է անփոփոխ: Մենք, ի տարբերություն ադրբեջանցիների, նրանց հետ հաշվեհարդար չենք տեսել: Նրանց նկատմամբ կատարվել է բաց և թափանցիկ դատավարություն, ինչպես վայել է ցանկացած ժողովրդավարական պետությանը: Լրատվամիջոցները, մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանները, տեղական թե արտերկրից, հնարավորություն են ունեցել գալ և տեսնել, մասնակցել այդ դատավարությանը: Նրանց մեղքն ապացուցված է, և նրանք կրում են իրենց պատիժը»,-ասաց Դավիթ Բաբայանը:

Ինչ վերաբերում է նախագահների հանդիպմանը հարցի հնարավոր քննարկմանը, Դավիթ Բաբայանը նշեց, որ կդժվարանա հստակ ասել, բայց ավելացրեց, որ եթե նույնիսկ այդպես է, ապա դա ոչ այլ ինչ է, քան քաղաքական շահարկում: «Եթե ադրբեջանական կողմը նման ակնկալիքներ ունի կամ ցանկանում է այդ մարդկանց ճակատագրով հետաքրքրվել, ապա պետք է դիմի Արցախի Հանրապետությանը: Այդպիսի դիմում մենք չենք ստացել, բայց ես կասկածում եմ, որ Ալիևը կարող էր իր վրա վերցնել այդ համարձակությունը և բարձրացնել հարցը Հայաստանի նախագահի առջև: Նույն այդ Ալիևը հերո սացրել է բուդապեշտյան դահիճին (հայ սպային քնած ժամանակ կացնահարած Ռամիլ Սաֆարովին-խմբ.): Չեմ կարծում, որ նա այդ համարձակությունը ունենար, մանավանդ, ոչ իրավական, ոչ քաղաքական տեսնակյունից  նման հարցադրումը ՀՀ նախագահին ուղղելը ճիշտ չէ»,-հավելեց Դավիթ Բաբայանը:

Դիլհամ Ասկերովին մեղադրանք էր առաջադրվել ԼՂՀ քրեական օրենսգրքի 7-րդ, իսկ նույն երկրի քաղաքացի Շահբազ Գուլիեւին ՝ 5-րդ հոդվածների հատկանիշներով։ Նրանք մեղադրվում են ազգային ատելության շարժառիթներով մարդուն առեւանգելով սպանելու, կազմակերպված խմբի կողմից անչափահասի նկատմամբ զենքի գործադրմամբ բռնություն գործադրելու, լրտեսության, Ղարաբաղի պետական սահմանը կազմակերպված խմբի կողմից հատելու, հրազեն եւ ռազմամթերք կրելու մեջ։ Դիլհամ Ասկերովին մեղադրանք էր առաջադրվել նաեւ կազմակերպված խմբի կողմից ազգային ատելության շարժառիթով երկու աձանց սպանության փորձի համար:

ԼՂՀ ընդհանուր իրավասության դատարանը 2014թ.-ի դեկտեմբերի 29-ին Դիլհամ Ասկերովին դատապարտել է ցմահ, իսկ Գուլիևին 22 տարվա ազատազրկման:
