Ռազմիկ Թեւոնյանի՝ Արարատի մարզպետի պաշտոնից հրաժարվելու բազում պատճառներ շրջանառվեցին, որ նա պատրաստվում է ոչ միայն մասնակցել առաջիկա ՏԻՄ ընտրություններին, այլեւ ողջ պրոցեսը համակարգել` ընտրություններին առաջադրելով բացառապես իր մարդկանց, որոնցից մի քանիսը «հարուստ» քաղաքական անցյալ ունի, ուստիեւ մերժվել է կուսակցության կողմից, ինքն էլ ինադ է ընկել, ազատման դիմում գրել։ Ի դեպ, նրա դիմումը դեռ չի ստորագրվել վարչապետի կողմից, մարզպետարանի պաշտոնական կայքում էլ մարզպետը դեռ Թեւոնյանն է։ Թիմում հույս ունեն, որ նա հետ կվերցնի դիմումը՝ հատկապես որ այն կապում են Տիգրանաշենի հանձնման եւ այլ անվտանգային հարցերի հետ։

Ինչ վերաբերում է ՏԻՄ ընտրություններին, ինչպես հայտնի է, առաջիկայում մարզում տեղի ունենալիք խոշորացման գործընթացով 4 խոշոր համայնք է ձեւավորվելու՝ Մասիսի, Արտաշատի, Վեդիի եւ Արարատի։ Կուսակցության հետ կոնֆլիկտը հատկապես առաջացել է Մասիսի թեկնածուի պատճառով․ Թեւոնյանն այստեղ առաջարկել է Սայեն Հայրապետյանի` Մասիսի Սայադի թեկնածությունը, որն այժմ ԵԿՄ տարածքային կառույցի ղեկավարն է, 2000-ականներին ՀՀԿ-ի համակիրն է եղել, իսկ 2012 եւ 2017 թթ․ աշխատել է ԲՀԿ-ի համար, 17-ին նույնիսկ ԲՀԿ ռեյտինգային ցուցակում էր: Նրա անունը շոշափվել է աղմկահարույց պատմություններում։ 2018-ից հետո նա արագ կողմնորոշվեց եւ մտերմացավ Թեւոնյանի հետ։ Սակայն Թեւոնյանին փոխարինողների անուններ էլ են շրջանառվում՝ ի դեմս փոխմարզպետ, նախկին պատգամավոր Սերգեյ Ատոմյանի եւ ՔՊ Արտաշատի կառույցի ղեկավար Կառլեն Մկրտչյանի: Վերջինիս նաեւ որպես Արտաշատի խոշորացված համայնքի թեկնածու են դիտարկել։
