ԱՄՆ-ում վախճանվել է Շանթ Հարությունյանի հայրը՝ Շահեն Հարությունյանը
SOCIETYԻրավապաշտպան Վարդան Հարությունյանը ֆեյսբուքյան էջում «Երկու խոսք իմ ավագ ընկերոջ մասին» վերտառությամբ գրառման մեջ նշում է.
«Ամերիկայի միացյալ նահանգներում վախճանվել է խորհրդային տարիների քաղբանտարկյալ Շահեն Հարությունյանը։ Նա 84 տարեկան էր։
Նրա կյանքի ու գործունեության մասին մոտավոր պատկերացում կազմելու համար անհրաժեշտ է մտովի տեղափոխվել խորհրդային իրականություն։ Երիտասարդները դա անել չեն կարող, որովհետեւ չգիտեն, թե ինչ իրականություն էր դա։ Մեծահասակները կարող են։ Կարող են նաև օգնել երիտասարդներին։ Շահեն Հարությունյանն իր գործունեությունը ծավալել է ծանր իրականության պայմաններում, ենթարկվել է հետապնդումների, քանիցս կալանավորվել ու բանտարկվել է, բայց չի ընկրկել ու պատվով է դուրս եկել իրեն բաժին հասած փորձություններից։
Նրա գործունեության առաջին շրջանը, որ սկսվել է 1963-ին ու ձգվել մինչեւ 1966՝ ազգային-հայրենասիրական է եղել։ Այդ տարիներին այս կարգի գործունեությունը, որը խորհրդային իշխանությունների կողմից չէր խրախուսվում ու դատապարտելի էր՝ տարածված երեւույթ էր։ Այդ շրջանում է հայկական միջավայրում սկսվում խոսակցությունը եղեռնի, ռուսաֆիկացիայի, կորսված տարածքների, ազգային արժանապատվության մասին։
Նա 1965-ի ապրիլի հզոր ցույցի կազմակերպիչներից մեկն էր։ Այսօր բոլորը գիտեն ցույցի մասին, բայց կազմակերպիչներին չգիտեն։
1966-ին փոխվում է Շահեն Հարությունյանի պայքարի բնույթը։ Սա պատահական չէր։ Այս թվականը շրջադարձային է նաեւ Հայաստանի նորագույն պատմության մեջ։ 1966 թ․ հոկտեմբերին Հայկազ Խաչատրյանը, Ստեփան Զատիկյանը եւ Շահեն Հարությունյանը ստեղծում են Հայաստանի անկախության համար պայքարող Ազգային միացյալ կուսակցությունը։ (Մեր ժամանակակիցները դեռ չեն հասկացել այս պատմական իրադարձության կարեւորությունը։ Գալու է այն հասկանալու ու գնահատելու ժամանակը)։
Այս կետից սկսվում-շարունակվում է Հայաստանի անկախության համար պայքարը։ Շահենը առաջամարտիկներից ու կազմակերպիչներից էր։ Իր գործունեության համար նա դատապարտվել է 1969-ին, ապա 1978-ին, իսկ 1986-ին նա զրկվեց խորհրդային միության քաղաքացիությունից ու ԱՄՆ տեղափոխվեց։
Շահենը միշտ բողոքում էր, որ ժամանակ չի գտնում եւ հուշեր չի գրում։ Ինչ որ պահի սկսել էր, ապա ընդհատել։ Ինչ-ինչ գրառումներ, գուցե, ունի։ Լավ է, որ ես իմ «Այլախոհությունը Խորհրդային Հայաստանում» գրքի համար նրան ձայնագրեցի ու հրապարակեցի։
Նա հաճախ է հիշվում նաեւ իմ «Քաղբանտարկյալի պատմությունը» գրքում։ Այլ կերպ լինել չէր կարող։ Նա մեր նորագույն պատմության կերտողներից ու վկաներից է»:
