Ֆրանսիան հիշում է «ֆրանսիական երգի թագուհուն»: Դեկտեմբերի 19-ին լրանում է նրա 100-ամյակը (1915-1963), հայտնում է TASS-ը: Էդիտ Պիաֆի հիշատակին պատարագ կմատուցվի Սբ Հովհաննես Մկրտիչ եկեղեցում Բելվիլում՝ Փարիզի թաղամասում, որտեղ ծնվել է աշխարհի ամենահայտնի ֆրանսուհին:
Այս օրերին փարիզցիները ծաղիկներ են տանում նրա գերեզմանին Պեր-Լաշեզում: Երգչուհին ընդամենը 47 տարի է ապրել:
Պիաֆին երաժշտության աշխարհ կարիքն է տարել: Մանկահասակ Էդիտ Գասյոնին ծնողներն ուղարկել են երգելու փողոցում անցորդների համար՝ հացի գումար վաստակելու:
Piaf («ճնճղուկ») մականունը շատ է սազել նիհարիկ երգչուհուն՝ 147 սմ հասակով: Բայց ուժեղ և արտահայտիչ ձայնը լսողներին ստիպել է մոռանալ ամեն ինչի մասին:
Երկրորդ Համաշխարհային պատերազմի ժամանակ նա հաճախ հանդես է եկել գերմանական ուժերի հավաքույթներին օկուպացված Ֆրանսիայում, ինչը շատերի կողմից դիտվել և դիտվում է որպես դավաճանություն։ Սակայն ինքը՝ Պիաֆը, պատերազմից հետո հայտարարել է, որ ինքը համագործակցել է ֆրանսիական դիմադրության հետ։ Այն, որ Պիաֆը մի շարք անձանց օգնել է խուսափել նացիստական հալածանքներից, համապատասխանում է իրականությանը։
Առաջին հետպատերազմյան տարին Պիաֆը Ֆրանսիային է նվիրել «Կյանքը վարդագույն գույնով» (La vie en rose) ստեղծագործությունը: Այդ երգը, որի բառերն ինքն է գրել, նրան համաշխարհային հռչակ է բերել:
«Ամեն երգի համար Էդիտը փնտրում էր ընդամենը մեկ ժեստ, բայց միշտ շատ ստույգ,- նկատում է Շառլ Ազնավուրը:- Եվ լսարանին դա բավարար էր»:
«Նրա թաղման օրը ես ինձ կորցրել էի ֆոտոխցիկներով և տեսախցիկներով մարդկանց թվից,- հիշում է Ազնավուրը:- Բայց Էդիտին այդ բազմությունը, հավանաբար, դուր կգար, չէ՞ որ նա բոլորի համար քույր և ընկեր է եղել»:
1950-ականները Էդիտի կարիերայի վերելքի շրջանն էր: 1961-ին, սակայն, նրա մոտ լյարդի քաղցկեղ է հայտնաբերվում: Կյանքի վերջին օրերին նրա մասին հոգ էր տանում Էդիտի վերջին սերը` 27-ամյա Թեոն:
Էդիտ Պիաֆը մահացել է 1963-ի օգոստոսի 10-ին:
