Էջմիածնի և Երևանի համայնապատկերները 1672 թվականին

Ռուբեն Շուխյանը Ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրում է.
Ֆրանսիացի ճանապարհորդ Ժան Շարդենը 1672-1673 թթ. ճանապարհորդեց Կ.Պոլսից` Սև ծովով դեպի Վրաստան, Արևելյան Հայաստան և Պարսկաստան: Նրա հետ էր նաև նկարիչ ժոզեֆ Գրելոն, որը ճանապարհորդության ընթացքում կատարեց արժեքավոր նկարներ, որոնք հետագայում արտատպվեցին որպես գրավյուրներ (փորագրանկարներ)` այդ թվում նաև ներկայացվող Էջմիածնի և Երևանի հայտնի համայնապատկերները: Շարդենի ճանապարհորդության մասին պատմող ուշագրավ տեղեկություններով և Գրելոյի պատմական մեծ արժեք ներկայացնող գրավյուրներով գիրքը տպագրվեց ֆրանսերեն լեզվով 1686-ին Լոնդոնում, այնուհետև լրացված և ամբողջական տարբերակով` 1711-ին Ամստերդամում: Իսկ ահա ռուսերեն թարգմանությամբ Շարդենի աշխատությունը առաջին անգամ տպագրվել է 1902 թ. Թիֆլիսում` Մ.Մարտիրոսյանցի տպարանում:
Իր գրքում Շարդենը Արևելյան Հայաստանը ներկայացնում է բացառապես «Արմենիա» տեղանունով, նշելով, որ Երևանը, որն այն ժամանակ համանուն կուսակալության վարչական կենտրոնն էր` «շատ բարեբեր բնակլիմայական պայմաններով խոշոր քաղաք է» (Շարդենի այցելությունից հետո 1679-ին Երևանում տեղի ունեցավ ավերիչ երկրաշարժ): Այստեղ, ըստ Շարդենի, բուն քաղաքի թաղամասերում ապրում են հայեր, իսկ բերդում` կուսակալի նստելավայրն է և տեղակայված է պարսկական կայազորը: Դվինից դեպի Նախիջևան ճանապարհը Շարդենը նկարագրում է այսպես. «Մենք անցանք Արփա գետը, որի ջրերով ոռոգվում են այստեղի հողատարածքները: Այդ գետը բաժանում է Հայաստանը երկու մասի. Հայաստանի վերին հատվածի մայրաքաղաքն է Երևանը, իսկ ներքին մասինն արդեն` Նախիջևանը»:
Մեջբերենք նաև այսպիսի մի հետաքրքիր հատված Շարդենի գրքից. «Այդ պետության (Երևանի կուսակալություն) մեծահարուստները սիրում են անցկացնել իրենց ամառային հանգիստը քաղաքից (Երևան) դուրս` գյուղում, գեղատեսիլ լեռնային շրջաններում: Այստեղ նրանք հանգստանում են քաղաքային կյանքից, զբաղվում են որսորդությամբ, ձուկ են բռնում, ձի են քշում կամ ուղղակի զբոսնում են, մի խոսքով` վայելելում են բնության զովությունն ու գեղեցկությունը: Սա իրենք անվանում են «ելակ», այսինքն` գնալ քաղաքից դուրս»:
