ԱՄՆ-ը կտրուկ կրճատում է հակահրթիռային համակարգերի քանակը Մերձավոր Արևելքում՝ տարածաշրջանում ռազմական ներկայության վերակազմակերպման շրջանակում, քանի որ զինված ուժերի ուշադրությունը կենտրոնացնում է Ռուսաստանի և Չինաստանի մարտահրավերների վրա: Այս մասին գրում է The Wall Street Journal-ը՝ վկայակոչելով ամերիկյան վարչակազմի իրազեկ աղբյուրների խոսքերը:
Աղբյուրները նշում են, որ ռազմական տեխնիկայի չհայտարարված կրճատումները սկսվել են հունիսի 2-ին պաշտպանության նախարար Լլոյդ Օսթինի և Սաուդյան Արաբիայի թագաժառանգ Մուհամադ բեն Սալմանի հեռախոսազրույցից հետո: Ռազմական տեխնիկայի մեծ մասը դուրս է բերվում Սաուդյան Արաբիայից:
Պաշտոնական աղբյուրների համաձայն՝ Պենտագոնը հետ է բերում «Պատրիոտ» հակահրթիռային 8 մարտկոց Իրաքից, Քուվեյթից, Հորդանանից և Սաուդյան Արաբիայից: Աղբյուրները նշում են, որ ԱՄՆ-ն հետ է կանչում նաև Սաուդյան Արաբիայից THAAD անդրմթնոլորտային հետախուզման համակարգը և կրճատում տարածաշրջանում կործանիչների քանակը:
«Այն, ինչ տեսնում եք, ռեսուրսների վերաբաշխում է՝ ռազմավարական առաջնահերթություններին համահունչ: Մենք դեռ ուժեր ունենք Իրաքում և Սիրիայում, այդ ուժերը չեն հեռանում: Մենք դեռ Պարսից ծոցի մեր գործընկեր երկրներում ունենք մեր հենակետերը, դրանք չեն փակվում, դեռ կա զգալի ներկայություն», - ասել է ՊՆ բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյան և հավելել՝ այնտեղ տեղակայված սարքավորումների միայն մի մասն է վերադարձվում տարածաշրջանից:
WSJ-ի աղբյուրների համաձայն՝ սարքավորումների դուրսբերման պատճառը կապված է նաև տարածաշրջանում ԱՄՆ ներկայության ավելի ավանդական մակարդակին վերադարձի հետ՝ այն բանից հետո, երբ նախորդ վարչակազմը սարքավորումներ էր ուղարկում Մերձավոր Արևելք՝ Իրանի վրա ճնշում գործադրելու համար: Պաշտոնյաները կարծում են, որ ամերիկյան զինամթերքը չի խանգարել Իրանին ապակայունացնող գործողություններ կատարելուց:
Սաուդյան Արաբիան նույնպես կատարելագործել է իր պաշտպանական կարողությունները և ինքնուրույն «որսացել» հրթիռային գրոհների մեծ մասը: Բացի այդ, ամերիկյան հակահրթիռային պաշտպանության համակարգերը պահպանման ու նորոգման կարիք ունեն:
