«Ժողովուրդ» օրաթերթը գրում է.
Ընթացող նախընտրական քարոզարշավը խոստանում է լինել բուռն խոսքերի, խոստումների, ոչնչով չհիմնավորված ծրագրերի ու բոցաշունչ խոսքերի շքերթ: Այն, որ երբեք էլ Հայաստանում ծրագրային, թվերով ու տնտեսական ռեալ կանխատեսումներով հիմնավորված քարոզչություն չի եղել, փաստ է, եզակի բացառություններ իհարկե կան, սակայն դրանք այդպես էլ մնացել են հատուկենտ:
Ինչպես նախորդ բոլոր ընտրություններում, այս անգամ եւս կա մեկ նպատակ ու, այսպես կոչված, գաղափարախոսություն, որի հետեւից գնալու կամ չեն գնալու հասարակության հոծ զանգվածները. դա գործող իշխանությանը տապալելն ու նոր իշխանություն ձեւավորելն է:

Այդպես էր 96թ.-ին, երբ Վազգեն Մանուկյանի շուրջ համախմբվել էին գրեթե բոլոր ընդդիմադիր ուժերը, այդպես էր Սերժ Սարգսյանի ու Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի իշխանության տարիներին: Իհարկե, մեղադրել ընդդիմադիր ուժերին դժվար է, հասարակությունը պահանջում է մակերեսային վերաբերմունք ու ստանում է դա, մյուս կողմից` անկախությունից ի վեր հասարակության կրթական-գիտակցական մակարդակը ոչ միայն չի բարձրացել, այլ ամեն բան արվում էր, որպեսզի մարդիկ իրենց զգան ոչ որոշիչ, իրենց ձայնը համարեն ոչ էական, ինչը կարելի էր նույնիսկ վաճառել:

Ըստ ամենայնի այսօր ընդդիմությունը չունի եւ չի կարողանում առաջարկել քաղաքացիներին ինչ-որ նոր բան, ասում ու առաջարկում են այն ամենը, ինչը առաջարկում է նաեւ ներկայիս իշխանությունը։ Մեծ հաշվով աշխարհաքաղաքական լուրջ ռեվերանսներ չեն սպասվում:

Այս դեպքում քաղաքացիների մոտ հարց է ծագում, թե ինչու ընտրել ընդդիմությանը. միայն նրա համար, որ դե՞մ են Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին։ Պայքարը կրկին անձերի տիրույթում է:
