««Երեկ հայտնի դարձավ, որ Միացյալ Նահանգների Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի անդամ Քրիս Սմիթը հանդես Է եկել օրենսդրական նախաձեռնությամբ և առաջարկում Է մերժել վիզայի տրամադրումը Ադրբեջանի բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյաներին։ «2015թ. Ադրբեջանում ժողովրդավարության մասին ակտ» անվանումով 14 Էջից բաղկացած օրինագիծը նախօրեին ներկայացվել Է ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողով։ Օրինագծում նշվում Է, որ 2015-ին Բաքվի իշխանությունները ճաղերի հետետւմ փակել են տասնյակ լրագրողների և իրավապաշտպանների։
Բայց սա դեռ ամենը չէ: Երեկ հայտնի դարձավ նաև, որ 2016թ. հունվարին ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի Արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովը Ղարաբաղի խնդրի կարգավորման հարցով դռնփակ քննարկում Է կազմակերպելու, որին հրավիրված Է ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի ամերիկացի համանախագահ Ջեյմս Ուորլիքը։ ԱՄՆ Հայ դատի հանձնախմբի ներկայացուցիչ Եղիսաբեթ Չուլջյանը երեկ «Ամերիկայի ձայնի» հայկական ծառայությանը հայտնել Է. «Հաջորդ շաբաթների ընթացքում Արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովը փակ դռների հետևում հարցեր պիտի տա դեսպան Ուորլիքին»։ Հիշեցնենք, ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարությունը նախօրեին հավանություն Է տվել 85 կոնգրեսականների նախաձեռնությանը Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջազգային սահմանին կրակոցները տեղորոշող զգայուն սարքեր տեղադրել, հետ քաշել դիպուկահարներին, ընդլայնել ԵԱՀԿ հետաքննությունների մեխանիզմները։
Ադրբեջանի նկատմամբ ԱՄՆ-ի վերաբերմունքի այս կտրուկ փոփոխությունը դեռևս անհասկանալի Է Թե ինչ ազդեցություն դա կարող Է թողնել ԼՂ խնդրի կարգավորման վրա, թերևս միայն ժամանակը ցույց կտա։
Գումարած այս ամենին, Եվրախորհրդի գլխավոր քարտուղար Թորբյորն Յագլանդն Էլ հայտարարել Է Ադրբեջանում մարդու իրավունքների հարցով պաշտոնական հետաքննություն սկսելու մասին և ասել, որ ՄԻԵԴ վճիռները բացահայտում են Ադրբեջանում օրենքների կամայական կիրառումը վարչակազմի քննադատներին լռեցնելու ու խոսքի ազատությունը սահմանափակելու համար»,–գրում է թերթը։
