Թուրքիայում առնվազն 20մլն մարդ չքավորության մեջ է ապրում: Այս մասին ասվում է Թուրքիայի քրդամետ «Ժողովուրդների դեմոկրատական» կուսակցության (HDP-ԺԴԿ) հայտարարության մեջ:
Ըստ HDP-ի աշխատանքային հանձնաժողովի տվյալների՝ վերջին շրջանում գործազուրկ դարձած մարդկանց վիճակագրությունը եթե կազմվի, ապա չքավորների թիվը Թուրքիայում կարող է հասնել 30 միլիոնի։
Նշվում է, որ Թուրքիայում 60մլն աշխատող մարդ ստանում է նվազագույն կաշխատավարձ կամ դրանից ավելի ցածր վարձատրություն: Նվազագույն աշխատավարձն էլ, ըստ վերոնշյալ հանձնաժողովի գնահատականների, չի բավարարում, որպեսզի մարդիկ կարողանան դուրս գալ չքավորությունից։
HDP-ի հայտարարության մեջ այս իրավիճակի պատասխանատու է համարվում իշխող «Արդարություն և զարգացում» կուսակցությունը, որի տնտեսական քաղաքականությունը վերջին 10 տարում ձևավորել է սպառողականության վրա հիմնված, դրսի ներդրումներից կախված տնտեսություն՝ ոչ բավարար արտադրողականությամբ ու աշխատատեղերով։
