Երևանում տեղի ունեցող իրադարձությունները քիչ ընդհանուր բան ունեն Ուկրաինայի ապստամբության հետ, բայց Ռուսաստանի աշխարհաքաղաքական հռետորությունը մարգարեանալու հատկություն ունի: Այս մասին «The Interpreter»-ի իր հոդվածում, որը արտատպվել է նաև բրիտանական «The Guardian»-ում, գրում է ամերիկացի վերլուծաբան Փոլ Գլոուբը:

Հեղինակը նշում է, որ շատ ռուսաստանցի վերլուծաբաններ շտապում են ենթադրել, որ բողոքի ակցիաները նոր Մայդանի բացումն են, որ դրանք հակառուսական ակցիաներ են, որոնց աջակցում է Արևմուտքը:

Նրա ներկայացմամբ՝ իրադարձությունների նման մեկնաբանությունները կարող են ինքն իրեն ծնող մարգարեության վատագույն ձևը լինել, որը ներքին կյանքի պայմանների դեմ բողոքի ակցիաները ձևափոխում է մեկ այլ բանի: Եթե Մոսկվայի ընտրությունը միշտ կանգնում է գործող իշխանություններին աջակցելու վրա՝ անկախ իրադարձությունների զարգացումից, դա ի վերջո, վանելու է երկիրը Ռուսաստանից:

Նա նաև վկայակոչում է ռուս վերլուծաբան Սերգեյ Մարկեդոնովի հոդվածը, որտեղ նա զգուշացնում է Կրեմլին, որ վերջինս չի պատկերացնում իրավիճակը:

Գլոուբը նշում է, որ այն, ինչ տեղի է ունենում Հայաստանում, արմատապես տարբերվում է Ուկրաինայում տեղի ունեցածից: Առաջին պատճառն այն է, որ Ռուսաստանը Հայաստանը համարում է իր ռազմավարական գործընկերը: Երկրորդ, ՀՀ կառավարությունն ու ժողովուրդը Մոսկվայի հանդեպ իրենց վերաբերմունքում բաժանված չեն:
