Երբեմն ես կարծիքներ եմ լսում, թե Վանեցյանը՝ որպես ԱԱԾ տնօրեն, հետապնդումների առաջամարտիկ էր, ինչպես ենք նրա հետ դաշինք կազմում: Շատ պարզ, Արթուր Վանեցյանը ժամանակին գիտակցեց նորելուկի շնագայլերի ողջ իրական էոությունը, անձամբ կանգ առավ ու կոչ արեց նաև մյուսներին: Ավաղ, նրան չլսեցին: «Պատիվ ունեմ» դաշինքը կազմավորելու մասին հուշագրի ստորագրման արարողությանը հայտարարեց Սերժ Սարգսյանը:

Սարգսյանի խոսքերով, դժվար թե գտնվի մի մարդ, ով այս իշխանություններից ավելի շատ է տուժել, քան ինքն ու իր մերձավորները. «Սա ասելով ես հասկանում եմ, որ ամեն մարդ իր ցավն ու իր պրոբլեմն ամենացավոտն է համարում, սակայն անձնական զգացողությունները, քաղաքական կոնյուկտուրան ու ամբիցիաներն անցողիկ են ու խիստ երկրորդական այն առաքելության համեմատ, որ ունի ամեն հայ գործիչ մեր երկրում ստեղծված ճգնաժամի պարագայում»,-ասաց նա:
