«Հպարտ եմ, որ վաստակել եմ այս իշխանության ատելությունը, և գիտակցում եմ, որ հիմնական թիրախն էլ ես եմ լինելու»,- օրերս իր համակիրների հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ հայտարարել է ՀՀ երկրորդ նախագահ Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանը՝ ասելով, որ հենց Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը հրաժարական տա, ինքն ու իր թիմը հստակ և պլանավորված քայլերով կսկսեն նախընտրական քարոզարշավը․ պետք չէ անհանգստանալ, թե իշխանությունն արդեն չհայտարարված քարոզարշավ է անում, իսկ մենք հետ ենք ընկել։ «Հանգիստ եղեք և այս հարցում վստահեք ինձ»,- ասել է նա:
Քոչարյանը նշել է, թե գալիս է իշխանության՝ արժանապատիվ խաղաղություն հաստատելու համար։ «Իհարկե, իմ դեմ բանեցնելու են թեզը, թե Քոչարյանը գալու է իշխանության, պատերազմ հրահրի»,- ասել է նա՝ խոստանալով բերել «ոչ միայն արժանապատիվ խաղաղություն, նաև՝ բարեկեցիկ կյանք»։
Ասել է, որ իր պաշտոնավարման 10 տարիների ընթացքում ապացուցել է, որ երկիրը կարող է զարգանալ Ղարաբաղի հետ միասին։ Նա հիշեցրել է ՀՀ առաջին նախագահ Լևոն Տեր-Պետրոսյանի խոսքերը, որը հեռանալուց առաջ ասել է՝ «խաղաղության կուսակցությունը գնում է, պատերազմի կուսակցությունն է գալիս»․․․ «Բայց եղավ ճիշտ հակառակը՝ մենք ունեցանք ամենից խաղաղ 10 տարին Հայաստանում, ամենից քիչ զոհերը՝ շփման գծում, սա փաստ է»,-գրում է թերթը։
