Վրաստանի նախկին նախագահ, Ուկրաինայի Բարեփոխումների ազգային խորհրդի գործադիր կոմիտեի նախագահ Միխեիլ Սաակաշվիլին, որի դեմ Վրաստանում մի շարք քրեական գործեր են հարուցված, Վրաստանի իշխանություններին առաջարկել է 24 ժամով իրեն թույլ տալ մուտք գործել երկիր և տեսնել բնակչության արձագանքը, հաղորդում է ria.ru-ն։

«Եկեք փորձ կատարենք։ Թող ինձ 24 ժամով երկիր թողնեն ու ես խոստանում եմ՝ առանց թիկնազորի կլինեմ։ Ժողովրդին ազատորեն կարծիք հայտնելու հնարավորություն կտանք։ Ինչո՞ւ նման բան թույլ չեն տալիս։ Գուցե այն պատճառով, որ հենց ոտք դնեմ վրացական հողի վրա, պարզ կդառնա, որ նրանց (գործող իշխանությունների) աջակցությունը կազմում է 5 տոկոս, իսկ ինձ աջակցում է 70-75 տոկոսը»,- ТВ Пирвели-ի եթերում հայտարարել է Սաակաշվիլին։

Նրա խոսքով՝ վրացի պաշտոնյաները բազմիցս այցելել են Ուկրաինա և տեղական իշխանություններին խնդրել են իրեն չարտահանձնել Թբիլիսի։

Սաակաշվիլին Վրաստանից հեռացել է 2013 թվականին, որտեղ նրա դեմ մի շարք քրեական գործեր են հարուցվել, որոնցից մի քանիսի համար նա հեռակա կարգով դատապարտվել է ազատազրկման: 2015 թվականի գարնանը Սաակաշվիլին մտել է ուկրաինական քաղաքականություն՝ զբաղեցնելով Օդեսայի մարզի նահանգապետի պաշտոնը, իսկ դրանից առաջ ստացել է Ուկրաինայի քաղաքացիություն։ Սակայն 2016 թվականի նոյեմբերին նախկին նախագահ Պյոտր Պորոշենկոն նրան հեռացրել է իր զբաղեցրած պաշտոնից՝ հայտարարելով, որ Սաակաշվիլին ոչ միայն չկատարեց տարածաշրջանի զարգացման խոստումները, այլև զգալիորեն վատթարացրեց նրա տնտեսական ցուցանիշները: 2017 թվականի հուլիսի վերջին Պորոշենկոն Սաակաշվիլիին զրկել էր Ուկրաինայի քաղաքացիությունից։

Ուկրաինայի նոր նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկին 2019 թվականի մայիսի 28-ին Սաակաշվիլիին վերադարձրել է Ուկրաինայի քաղաքացիությունը, որից հետո նա վերադարձել է Ուկրաինա: Քաղաքական գործիչը նշանակվել է Ուկրաինայի Բարեփոխումների ազգային խորհրդի գործադիր կոմիտեի նախագահ։
