ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը մտադիր է առաջիկա շաբաթներին այցելել Մեքսիկայի հետ ԱՄՆ սահման, որտեղ նա, լինելով պետության ղեկավար, սկսել էր պատ կառուցել, փոխանցում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։
Fox News հեռուստաալիքին տված հարցազրույցում նախկին նախագահը հայտարարել է, որ «անհրաժեշտ չի համարում իր ուղևորությունը սահման, սակայն պատրաստ է դա անել հանուն սահմանապահների, ինչպես նաև ԱՄՆ-ի ներգաղթի և մաքսային ոստիկանության ծառայողների»:
«Այդ մարդկանց առաջնորդ է հարկավոր»,- հայտարարել է Թրամփը:
Նրա խոսքով՝ Մեքսիկայի հետ սահման այցը կարող է կայանալ «առաջիկա մի քանի շաբաթների ընթացքում»։
«Մեր զրույցի ժամանակ հազարավոր մարդիկ շարունակում են ԱՄՆ ժամանել։ Դա կոչնչացնի մեր երկիրը»,- Fox News-ի հետ զրույցում ասել է Թրամփը։
Դեռևս 2016 թվականի նախընտրական արշավի ժամանակ նախկին նախագահն իր աջակիցներին խոստացել էր ավելի խիստ ներգաղթի քաղաքականություն վարել և ուժեղացնել սահմանային վերահսկողությունը: Մասնավորապես, նա նախաձեռնել է Մեքսիկայի հետ սահմանին պատի կառուցումը՝ պնդելով, որ դա կօգնի կանխել անօրինական ներգաղթն ու թմրանյութերի մաքսանենգությունը։
