ԵՄ արտաքին գործերի և անվտանգության քաղաքականության գերագույն ներկայացուցիչ Ժոզեպ Բորելը Թուրքիային կոչ է արել չեղարկել կանանց նկատմամբ բռնության կանխարգելման և պայքարի մասին Եվրոպայի խորհրդի Ստամբուլյան կոնվենցիայից դուրս գալու որոշումը, փոխանցում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։

«Ժամանակն է առաջնորդություն ցուցաբերել և ակտիվացնել կանանց ու աղջիկների նկատմամբ բռնության դեմ պայքարի գլոբալ ջանքերը, այլ ոչ թե նահանջել։ Ահա թե ինչու մենք չենք կարող խորը ափսոսանք չհայտնել Ստամբուլի անունը կրող կոնվենցիայից դուրս գալու թուրքական կառավարության որոշման վերաբերյալ»,- ասված է Բորելի հայտարարության մեջ:

Նա նաև հույս է հայտնել, որ Թուրքիան շուտով կրկին կմիանա Եվրամիության` կանանց և աղջիկների իրավունքների պաշտպանության ջանքերին, որը «21-րդ դարում մարդու իրավունքների, խաղաղության, անվտանգության և հավասարության հիմնարար տարրն է»:

Ավելի վաղ Resmi gazete պաշտոնաթերթում հրապարակվել էր Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի ստորագրած որոշումը, որով Թուրքիան դուրս է գալիս Ստամբուլյան կոնվենցիայից:

Որոշման մեջ մասնավորապես ասվում է.«Թուրքիայի Հանրապետության անունից 11.05.2011-ին ստորագրվել է և 10.02.2012-ին նախարարների խորհրդի կողմից հաստատվել է համար 2012/2816 որոշումը` կանանց նկատմամբ բռնությունների և ընտանեկան բռնությունների դեմ պայքարի Եվրոպական խորհրդի կոնվենցիան: Թուրքիայի կողմից դրան անդամակցությունը դադարեցնելու մասին որոշումը կայացվել է համաձայն նախագահի թիվ 9 հրամանի 3-րդ հոդվածի»:

Թուրքիայում «Ստամբուլյան կոնվենցիայի» քննադատները պատճառաբանում են, որ կոնվենցիան խարխլում է ընտանեկան արժեքները, ներմուծում է արևմտյան արժեքներ և ԼԳԲՏ համայնքի քարոզ է անում:
