LIFEТоцилизумаб – препарат для лечения артрита, применяемый также против коронавирусной инфекции, существенно не повлиял на исход тяжелого течения COVID-19. Об этом рассказывается в новом исследовании, опубликованном в The New England Journal of Medicine.
Как рассказывает Health.ucsd.edu, результаты клинического исследования фазы III, проведенного международной группой под руководством старшего автора Атула Малхотры, доктора медицины, руководителя исследования пульмонологии, реанимации и медицины сна в Калифорнийском университете в Сан-Диего, показали, что тоцилизумаб не имел существенного влияния на клинический статус или уровень смертности.
Тоцилизумаб, продаваемый как Actemra, представляет собой иммунодепрессивный препарат, используемый в основном для лечения ревматоидного артрита и системного ювенильного идиопатического артрита, тяжелой формы заболевания у детей. Терапия работает за счет использования гуманизированных моноклональных антител для специфического нацеливания и блокирования клеточных рецепторов интерлейкина-6 (IL-6), небольшого белка или цитокина, который играет важную роль в запуске воспаления в качестве раннего иммунного ответа на болезнь.
