Ջո Բայդենի աշխատակազմը ուրբաթ հայտարարել է Սաուդյան Արաբիայի քաղաքացիների դեմ պատժամիջոցների եւ մուտքի վիզա տրամադրելու արգելքի մասին՝ 2018 թվականին սաուդցի լրագրող Ջամալ Խաշոգջիի սպանության պատճառով, բայց պատժամիջոցներ չի սահմանել իր՝ գահաժառանգ արքայազն Մուհամմեդ բեն Սալմանի դեմ հայտնում է Reuters-ը: 

ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենի գործողությունները նրա վարչակազմի առաջին շաբաթներին, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, ուղղված են սաուդյան կապերի վերակառուցման վերաբերյալ նախընտրական խոստումների կատարմանը այն բանից հետո, երբ քննադատները նրա նախորդին՝ Դոնալդ Թրամփին մեղադրել էին, որ նա արաբ դաշնակցի ճանապարհին կանաչ լույս է վառել մարդու իրավունքների կոպիտ խախտումների տեսակետից:

Բայդենի վարչակազմի չներկայացած բարձրաստիճան ներկայացուցիչը հայտարարել է, որ նման մոտեցման նպատակը թագավորության հետ կապերի համար նոր մեկնարկային կետի ստեղծումն է՝ միաժամանակ չխախտելով Մերձավոր Արեւելքում հիմնական հարաբերությունները: Հարաբերությունները երկար տարիներ լարված էին Եմենում պատերազմի եւ Խաշոգջիի սպանության պատճառով, որը Washington Post-ի իր սյունակում քննադատում էր Էր Ռիադի գահաժառանգ արքայազնին:

Կարեւոր է նշել, որ այս որոշումները, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, ուղղված են գահաժառանգ արքայազնի հետ աշխատանքային հարաբերությունների պահպանմանը, որը թագավորության փաստացի ղեկավարն է, չնայած հանգամանքին, որ ամերիկյան հետախուզությունը հանգել էր այն եզրակացության, որ նա հավանություն է տվել Խաշոգջիին բռնելու կամ սպանելու գործողությանը:

«Նպատակը տրամաչափի վերահաշվարկն է, այլ ոչ խզումը: Սա կապված է կարեւոր շահերի հետ, որոնց մենք համաձայն ենք»,- ասել է Բայդենի աշխատակազմի բարձրաստիճան ներկայացուցիչը:
