ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենը եւ Կանադայի վարչապետ Ջասթին Թրյուդոն փորձել են շրջել Թրամփի դարաշրջանի էջը՝ շեշտելով երկրների խորը կապերը եւ խոստանալով համատեղ աշխատել չինական ազդեցությանը հակազդելու եւ կլիմայի փոփոխության խնդիրը լուծելու շուրջ, հայտնում է Reuters-ը: 

«Միացյալ Նահանգներն ավելի մտերիմ ընկեր չունի, քան Կանադան է: Ահա թե ինչու որպես նախագահ իմ առաջին զանգը ձեզ կատարվեց եւ իմ առաջին երկկողմ հանդիպումը ձեզ հետ է»,- ասել է Բայդենը Կանադայի առաջնորդի եւ երկրի այլ բարձրաստիճան ներկայացուցիչների հետ էլեկտրոնային տեսակապի ժամանակ:

Երկու ղեկավարները երկու ժամ տեւած զրույցից հետո հայտարարել են, որ նախատեսում են սերտորեն համագործակցել, որ հաղթեն կորոնավիրուսի համավարակը եւ պայքարեն կլիմայի փոփոխության դեմ՝ նպատակ ունենալով 2050 թվականին հասնել արտանետումների զրոյական մակարդակի;

Թրյուդոն Բայդենին շնորհակալություն է հայտնել այն բանի համար, որ նա հաստատել է ԱՄՆ աջակցությունը Չինաստանում 2 կանադացիներին՝ Մայքլ Սպավորին եւ Մայքլ Կովրիգին ազատելու հարցում: «Մենք միասին կաշխատենք, մինչեւ հասնենք նրանց անվտանգ վերադարձին»,- ասել է Բայդենը:

Թրյուդոն իր հերթին ողջունել է Բայդենի վարչակազմին՝ մասնավորապես վկայակոչելով այն, որ Վաշինգտոնը կրկին ուշադրություն է դարձրել կլիմայի փոփոխությանը՝ ի տարբերություն ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի:

«Եվս մեկ անգամ շնորհակալություն կլիմայի փոփոխության խնդրի լուծման գործում այդպիսի առաջընթացի համար: Վերջին տարիներին ամերիկյան ղեկավարությանը առաջատարությունը շատ էր պակասում»,- ասել է Կանադայի վարչապետը:
