Քիչ հավանական է, որ Բայդենի վարչակազմի օրոք Թուրքիայի եւ ԱՄՆ-ի հարաբերությունները բարելավվեն, ասել է Սիրիայում ԱՄՆ նախկին բանագնաց Ջեյմս Ջեֆրին:
Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը չկարողացավ «օգտվել հնարավորություններից» եւ փոխզիջման քայլեր ձեռնարկել մի շարք հարցերի շուրջ, որոնց վերաբերյալ ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը Թուրքիային զիջումներ էր առաջարկել, Deutsche Welle Turkish-ին տված հարցազրույցում ասել է նա:
ՆԱՏՕ-ում դաշնակիցների հարաբերությունները վերջին մեկ տարվա ընթացքում սրվել են մի շարք խնդիրների պատճառով, ներառյալ՝ Թուրքիայի կողմից ռուսական С-400 հակաօդային պաշտպանության համակարգերիի գնումը, թուրքական պետական Halkbank-ի դեմ պատժամիջոցների սպառնալիքները՝ Իրանի դեմ պատժամիջոցները շրջանցելու համար, եւ Թուրքիայի դիրքը պատերազմող Լիբիայում:
Սիրիայում ԱՄՆ նախկին բարձրաստիճան բանագնացը մատնանշել է Անկարայի եւ Վաշինգտոնի հարաբերությունների ճգնաժամը С-400 համակարգերի շուրջ, մասնավորապես, դրանք մատնանշելով որպես խոչընդոտ երկկողմ հարաբերությունների բարելավման համար: «С-400-ը աղետ է Թուրքիայի համար... Դրանց գնումը պատմական սխալ էր»,- ասել է Ջեֆրին՝ նշելով, որ այդ ձեռքբերումն Անկարային F-35 կործանիչների ծրագրից հեռացնել արժեցավ:
Թուրքիան ռուսական համակարգերը ձեռք է բերել 2019թ.՝ չնայած պատժամիջոցների սպառնալիքներին ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից, որը պնդում է, որ այդ համակարգը հնարավոր է խաթարի ՆԱՏՕ-ի պաշտպանությունը: Գնումը ԱՄՆ-ին դրդել է հանել Թուրքիային F-35 հարձակողական կործանիչների համատեղ ծրագրից:
Ջեֆրիի խոսքով՝ Թրամփը բազմիցս փորձել է փոխզիջման հասնել Էրդողանի հետ այս հարցում, բայց Անկարան հրաժարվել է համագործակցել:
ԱՄՆ նախկին բանագնացը նաեւ հայտարարել է, որ Թուրքիան պետք է Ռուսաստանի հետ քննարկի Սիրիայի հյուսիս-արեւելքում գտնվող Սիրիայի ժողովրդավարական ուժերի (SDF) եւ Քրդական ինքնապաշտպանական ուժերի (YPG) վերաբերյալ իր մտահոգությունները:
Նա ասել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ին չի հաջողվելհամոզել Թուրքիային YPG-ի նկատմամբ իր դիրքորոշման մեջ` նշելով, որ դա վրդովեցրել է Վաշինգտոնին:
