Սուրբ Աթոռում ՀՀ նախկին դեսպան Միքայել Մինասյանն իր թելեգրամյան ալիքում գրառում է կատարել՝ հայտնելով, որ «Իմ քայլը» խմբակցության ղեկավար Լիլիթ Մակունցը շուտով Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի որոշմամբ՝ ԱՄՆ-ում ՀՀ դեսպան է նշանակվելու: Գրառումը՝ ստորև․ 

««Հայաստանը ես եմ»,- շատ շուտով կասի քաջ հայտնի տիկին Մակունցը, որին հատուկ արժանիքների համար, Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը որոշել է ԱՄՆ-ում Հայաստանի արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան նշանակել: Ինչպես այժմ է ընդունված ասել. «Մեզ թվում էր՝ հասանք հատակին, բայց հանկարծ ներքևից թակեցին»:

Նույնիսկ եթե ելնենք նրանից, որ Մակունցը վատ մարդ չէ, կասկած չկա, որ Մակունցը ոչ կոմպետենտ քաղաքական գործիչ է, ավելին՝ ապաշնորհ դիվանագետ և առհասարակ դիվանագետ չէ: Նրա անգրագիտության վկայությունն են արտաքին քաղաքական ձախողումները տարբեր մակարդակներում, այդ թվում՝ միջխորհրդարանական: Բայց հենց Մակունցին էր Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը վստահել ղեկավարել նախ մշակույթի նախարարությունը, իսկ հետո՝ իր խմբակցությունը: Մակունցը, որը հայտնի է որպես Նիկոլի անգլերենի ուսուցիչ, ունի միայն մեկ արժանիք՝ Նիկոլն անվերապահորեն հավատում է նրան: Այդ պատճառով, ուղարկելով նրան ԱՄՆ, նա որոշեց մի կրակոցով երկու նապաստակ սպանել. փրկել նրան  խորտակվող նավից և օգտագործել նրան երկու գերտերությունների միջև սանձազերծվող կեղտոտ խաղում:

Նիկոլի թիմն ի վերջո դիմացավ մինչև Բայդենի պաշտոնակալումը: Որոշվել է Լիլիթ Մակունցին ուղարկել Պետդեպարտամենտի թխվածքաբլիթների հետևից, որոնց մասին այդքան երազում էին թավշյա հեղափոխականները: Նրանց թվում է, որ Հայաստանը, մեծ տերությունների շահերի բախման հանգույցում, կփրկի դիլետանտ Մակունցը: Նրա սպասվող նշանակումը հարված է ոչ միայն հայ-ամերիկյան, հայ-ռուսական հարաբերություններին, Հայաստանի հեղինակությանը, այլ նաև գուցեև մեր գոյությանը՝ որպես անկախ երկիր, որը, սա կանոն է, պետք է քաղաքականությունը կառուցի մեծ տերությունների շահերի հանգույցում, այլ ոչ թե դրանց հակասությունների վրա:

Երկու օր առաջ սորոսական շրջանակներին կարգադրվել է զարկ տալ հակառուսական հռետորաբանությանը և սիրախաղ սկսել ԱՄՆ-ի հետ: Մակունցին նշանակելու որոշումը կլինի պաշտոնականացումը, ինստիտուցիոնալացումն այն աշխարհաքաղաքական քաոսի, որում Նիկոլը ներքաշում է Հայաստանը:
