«Ես խաղաղության կողմնակից եմ, միշտ։ Ես բոլոր հարցերը բանակցությունների միջոցով լուծելու կողմնակից եմ։ Ես, թույլ տվեք էդպես ասել, "ոչմիզոհական" եմ։ Ես պարզ գիտակցում եմ, որ Թուրքիան, Ադրբեջանը մեր տարածաշրջանից ոչ մի տեղ չեն գնալու, որ թե՛ դեպի Ռուսաստան, թե՛ դեպի արևմուտք մեր ցամաքային ու օդային ճանապարհները միշտ անցնելու են մեր հարևան որևէ երկրի տարածքով, ու որ մենք պետք է կարողանանք կառուցել մեր տարածաշրջանային կյանքը` հիմնվելով սթափ իրողությունների համադրման, սառը հաշվարկի վրա։ Ես ծովի մասին իմ երազանքները պահում եմ իմ երգերում։ Ես հասկանում եմ, որ համակեցության այլընտրանքը մշտական բախումներն ու զոհերն են։

Այն, ինչ այսօր կատարվում է Հայաստանի սահմաններին, ամենևին չի տանում դեպի ամուր խաղաղություն և հարևանություն։ Ամեն օր խախտվում է մեր քաղաքացիների խաղաղ, անվտանգ կյանքի իրավունքը, խախտվում են անձնական սեփականության, տնտեսական իրավունքները, գյուղերում, որոնք այսօր դարձել են ոչ թե սահմանամերձ, այլ "սահմանախրված", հայտնվում են ոչ թե խաղաղ հարևաններ, այլ` զինված անծանոթ անձինք` իրենց անորոշ նպատակներով, մարդիկ լքում են իրենց հայրական տները, այգիները, և նրանց մեծ հաշվով չպետք է հետաքրքրի` պետությունն ո՛ւմ հետ ի՛նչ պայմանավորվածություն ունի, սա կոնկրետ քաղաքացու կոնկրետ իրավունք է։ Սահմանագծումը հարց է, որը պետք է քննարկվեր ու կարգավորվեր միջպետական հանձնաժողովներով, իսկ մինչ այդ մարդիկ պիտի շարունակեին հանգիստ ապրել իրենց տներում, ժամանակ և ընտրություն ունենային` ինչպես, որտեղ շարունակել իրենց կյանքը։
Եթե մենք իրոք գնում ենք խաղաղության հաստատման, եթե իրո՛ք գնում ենք հարևանություն սկսելու ճանապարհով, ապա այն, ինչ այսօր կատարվում է, դրան ամենևին չի նպաստելու։ Մարդկային ողբերգություններ են մեր աչքի առաջ կատարվում, գյուղաբնակները զրկվում են ոչ միայն իրենց տներից ու տնտեսություններից, այլև` անվտանգ ապրելու երաշխիքներից, քանի որ պետության որևէ խոսքի չեն վստահում։
Անվստահության և ունեզրկման վրա խաղաղ հարևանություն չեն կառուցում։ Պետության անունից պիտի բանակցեն մարդիկ, ովքեր հասկանում են իրական խաղաղության գինն ու դրան տանող քայլերը։ Բանակցային սեղանին մեր պետությունը պիտի դնի առաջին հերթին մեր քաղաքացու իրավունքները, ոչ թե անհասկանալի գծեր` անծանոթ քարտեզների վրա արված։ Հակառակ պարագայում սա խաղաղության ժամանակավոր իմիտացիա է ընդամենը։
Ոչ մի ռուս խաղաղապահ մեզ չի օգնի, եթե մենք չունենանք խաղաղապահ իշխանություն։ Էս իշխանությունները պարզ ցույց են տվել, որ իրենք խաղաղություն պահող չեն։ Էնպես որ իրենց հիմիկվա խոսքերը` խաղաղության ու հարևանության մասին, էժան դեմագոգիկ հնարքներ են, որոնք մեզ վրա չափից դուրս թանկ նստեցին և շարունակում են նստել»։
