Հայ-Ռուսական համալսարանը նախորդ տարվա համեմատ 54 կետով բարելավել է իր դիրքը QS EECA University Rankings Արևելյան Եվրոպայի և Կենտրոնական Ասիայի ԲՈւՀ-երի ամենամյա վարկանիշում և այժմ զբաղեցնում է 131-րդ տեղը։ Այդ ցուցանիշով նա առաջ է անցել վարկանիշում ընդգրկված հայկական բոլոր բուհերից՝ ԵՊՀ-ից (179 տեղ), ՀԱՀ-ից (251-300 տեղեր), ՀՊՏՀ-ից (251-300) և ՃՇՀԱՀ-ից (251-300)։
Ընդհանուր առմամբ՝ վերոնշյալ վարկանիշում գնահատվում է համալսարանի գործունեության տասը ցուցանիշ: Դրանցից կարևորագույնը տվյալ համալսարանի ակադեմիական և կրթական հեղինակությունն է։
Բացի կրթական բաղադրիչից՝ հարցմամբ գնահատվում է նաև տվյալ համալսարանի շրջանավարտների մասնագիտական որակներն և մրցունակության մակարդակը համաշխարհային աշխատաշուկայում: Վերոնշյալ վարկանիշային աղյուսակում օգտագործվում է QS World University Rankings համաշխարհային վարկանիշից փոխառնված գնահատման մեթոդոլոգիան:
Հաշվի առնվող այլ գործոններից են նաև ուսանող-դասախոս հարաբերակցությունը, ֆակուլտետների (ինստիտուտների) կատարած հետազոտական աշխատանքները և այլն:
QS World University Rankings-ն առաջին անգամ հրապարակվել է 2004թ․՝ Times Higher Education հանրահայտ ամսագրի հետ համագործակցությամբ, իսկ հետագա տարիներին` սեփական մեթոդիկայով: Ներկայումս այն համարվում է աշխարհի ամենաընդգրկուն վարկանիշային համակարգերից մեկը:
