Դեմոկրատ Ջո Բայդենն ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահական ընտրությունների պատմության մեջ առաջինն է, որը հավաքել է 80 միլիոն ձայն: Այդ մասին վկայում են NBC հեռուստաալիքի հաշվարկները: Նրա տվյալներով՝ Բայդենն ԱՄՆ-ի ընտրությունների պատմության մեջ առաջինն է, որը հավաքում է 80 միլիոն 13 հազար 916 ձայն, հանրապետական նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը՝ 73 մլն 882 հազար 361, մյուս թեկնածուները՝ 2 մլն 867 հազար 746 հազար ձայն՝ միասին վերցրած:
Cook Political Report սոցիոլոգիական ֆիրմայի տվյալներով՝ Բայդենը հավաքել է 80 մլն 33 հազար 996 ձայն, իսկ Թրամփը՝ 73 մլն 878 հազար 907 ձայն: Fox News-ի հաշվարկները ցույց են տալիս, որ Բայդենին եւս շուրջ 30 հազար ձայն է մնացել մինչեւ 80 միլիոնը: Հաշվարկների տարբերությունը բացատրվում է նրանով, որ ԱՄՆ-ում չկա միասնական ընտրական հանձնաժողով, ընտրություններն անցկացվում են առանձին ընտրատարածքներում, իսկ արդյունքները հաշվում են ընտրատարածքների եւ նահանգների մակարդակով:
Ձայների ռեկորդային թիվը, որը տրվել է Բայդենի օգտին, ցույց է տալիս ինչպես ընտրություններին մասնակցության աճը, այնպես էլ բնակչության եւ ընտրողների թվի ընդհանուր աճը: Դրա հետ մեկտեղ ընտրողների ձայներն ունեն միայն խորհրդանշական նշանակություն: ԱՄՆ-ում նախագահական ընտրությունները որոշվում են նահանգներից քվեատուների թվով, ընդ որում կոնկրետ նահանգում հաղթողը վերցնում է դրա բոլոր քվեատուները: Բայդենը, ըստ նախնական տվյալների, Թրամփին ընտրություններում հաղթել է ոչ թե այն պատճառով, որ ստացել է ընտրողների 6 միլիոնով ավելի ձայն, այլ այն պատճառով, որ ոչ մեծ տարբերությամբ հաղթել է մեծ թվով քվեատուներ ունեցող այնպիսի հանգուցային նահանգներում, ինչպիսիք են Փենսիլվանիան, Ջորջիան եւ Միչիգանը, հաղորդել է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
