 Հարավային Կորեայում եւս երկու մարդ է մահացել մերձավորարեւելյան շնչառական համախտանիշի կորոնավիրուսից (MERS): Այդպիսով, վիրուսի զոհերի ընդհանուր թիվը հասել է 29-ի, հայտնել է Կորեայի Հանրապետության առողջապահության եւ սոցիալական զարգացման նախարարության ներկայացուցիչը:

Ինչպես հաղորդել է Ռյոնհապ գործակալությունը, հիվանդացածների ընդհանուր թիվը հասել է 180-ի: Ընդ որում 74 մարդ արդեն լիովին ապաքինվել եւ դուրս է գրվել հիվանդանոցներից: 77 մարդ դեռեւս հոսպիտալացված է, նրանցից 62-ի վիճակը կայուն է: Կարանտինային ռեժիմում է գտնվում 2,6 հազար մարդ:

Կորոնավիրուսով հիվանդանալու առաջին դեպքը Հարավային Կորեայի տարածքում գրանցվել է մայիսի 20-ին: Պարզվել է, որ վիրուսը, որը տարածվում է օդակաթիլային ճանապարհով, բերվել է ԿՀ-ի քաղաքացու կողմից, որը վերադարձել էր Մերձավոր Արեւելքի երկրներ կատարած ուղեւորությունից:

Կորոնավիրուսն առաջին անգամ մարդու մոտ բացահայտվել է 2012 թվականին Սաուդյան Արաբիայում: Դրանով վարակվելու դեպքեր են գրանցվել Հորդանանում, Քատարում, Արաբական Միացյալ Էմիություններում, Թունիսում, Մեծ Բրիտանիայում, Գերմանիայում, Իտալիայում, Ֆրանսիայում, ընդամենը 23 երկրներում, որտեղ պաշտոնապես հաստատվել է մարդկանց վարակվելու ավելի քան 1100 դեպք, որոնց 40 տոկոսը մահացու ելք է ունեցել: Հիվանդությունն սկսվում է որպես սովորական շնչառական ինֆեկցիա, որն ուղեկցվում է տենդով, հազով ու թոքաբորբով, բայց արագորեն ծանր ընթացք է ստանում՝ խոցելով թոքերը , հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
