Ե՛ւ Եվրամիությունը, ե՛ւ Թուրքիան գիտեն, որ անդամակցելու մասին բանակցությունները «ոչնչի չեն հանգեցնի», գերմանական Die Welt-ին հայտարարել է Ավստրիայի ԱԳՆ Ալեքսանդր Շալենբերգը՝ հավելելով, որ չի համարում, որ Թուրքիան կընդգրկվի միության կազմում առաջիկա 30 տարվա ընթացքում:
«Երկար տարիների ընթացքում Ավստրիան հակված էր կարծիքին, որ անդամակցելու մասին արդեն սառեցված բանակցությունները պետք է ամբողջովին պաշտոնապես դադարեցվեն»,- նշել է Շալենբերգը:
Այդ կապակցությամբ Ավստրիայի ԱԳՆ-ն հղում է արել Եվրահանձնաժողովի՝ Թուրքիայի հարաբերությունների առաջընթացի մասին զեկույցին, որը ցույց է տվել Կոպենհագենի չափորոշիչների զգալի նվազումը:
Նա հավելել է, որ ԵՄ կազմում ներառվելու մասին բանակցությունների փոխարեն միությունն «այժմ պետք է սկսի աշխատել երկու կողմերի շահերին ծառայելու համարանհատական գործընկերության ուղղությամբ»:
Նա նաեւ մեկնաբանել է Արեւելյան Միջերկրական ծովում Թուրքիայի գործողությունները՝ նշելով, որ «անկասկած» Ավստրիան աջակցում է Հունաստանին եւ Կիպրոսին Արեւելյան Միջերկրական ծովում:
«Մյուս կողմից, մենք պետք է անենք հնարավորինս ամեն ինչ բանակցություններն իրականացնելու համար»,- հավելել է Ավստրիայի ԱԳ նախարարը:
