Վաշտի հրամանատար, կապիտան Ալեքսան Սահակյանը պատերազմի առաջնագծում էր, երբ հայրը՝ Արսեն Սահակյանը, Գավառում լսեց որդու՝ «Մարտական խաչ» 1-ին աստիճանի շքանշանով պարգևատրվելու լուրը:

-Ձեր որդին՝ վաշտի հրամանատար, կապիտան Ալեքսան Սահակյանը, սխրանք է գործել ռազմադաշտում, որի համար պարգևատրվել է «Մարտական խաչ» 1-ին աստիճանի շքանշանով։ Շնորհավորում եմ։ Ծնողի համար չկա ավելի մեծ երջանկություն, քան իր որդու փառքը։

-Տղաս իր զինվորների հետ հայտնվել էր շրջափակման մեջ, ծուղակն էր ընկել։ Բայց խիզախության, ռազմական գիտելիքների, հնարամտության շնորհիվ կարողացել էր ճեղքել շրջափակումը և, որ ամենակարևորն է, ամեն ինչ արել էր, որ պաշտպանի և փրկի իր տղաների կյանքը։ Դա իսկական հրամանատարի պահվածք է։

-Դա հայ զինվորականին, հայ հրամանատարին վայել վարք է։ Եվ վաշտի հրամանատար, կապիտան Ալեքսան Սահակյանի սխրանքը կարևորվում է ոչ միայն անձնուրաց կռվով, հաջողության հասնելու խելամիտ գործողություններով, մարտական առաջադրանքը կատարելու հերոսությամբ, այլև իր զինվորի կյանքի համար մինչև վերջ պայքարելու բարձր բարոյականությամբ։ Փառք ու պատիվ Ձեզ, որ այդպիսի որդի եք դաստիարակել։

-Շնորհակալ եմ։ Տղամարդու համար պատվից կարևոր ոչինչ չկա։ Տղամարդու պատվին բիծ եղավ՝ ապրելն իմաստ չունի։ Ես հասարակ մարդ եմ: Եթե ասեմ՝ Ալեքսանիս առավոտից իրիկուն դաստիարակել եմ, մեծ-մեծ բաներ եմ սովորեցրել, սուտ կլինի, որովհետև հիմնականում զբաղված եմ եղել ընտանիքիս համար հաց հայթայթելով, հորս, մորս, կնոջս ու երկու որդիներիս հոգսերը հոգալով։ Ամեն տարի գնում էի արտագնա աշխատանքի։ Տղաներս՝ Ալեքսանն ու Վազգենը, հորս՝ իրենց պապի ձեռքի տակ են դաստիարակվել։ Հաճախ եմ լսել, թե  հերս ոնց է խրատում տղաներիս։ Ասում էր՝ կյանքից թանկ հայրենիքն է։ Պատմում էր՝ Տիգրան Մեծ, Եղեռն, Հայրենական պատերազմ։ Ասում էր՝ ինչ կուզես, տո՛ւր, ինչ կուզես, զոհի՛ր, երկու բան պիտի պահես քեզ՝ հայրենիքդ ու պատիվդ։ Տղաներս՝ փոքր երեխաներ, պլշած լսում էին։

-Դուք՝ որպես քյավառցի տղամարդ, ի՞նչ էիք երազում Ձեր որդիների համար, ինչպիսի՞ն էիք ուզում տեսնել նրանց։

-Ես երկու բան էի ուզում, որ նրանք լինեն մարդասեր ու պատվախնդիր։ Էս երկուսը՝ պատիվն ու մարդասիրությունը, իմ կարծիքով, տղամարդու ամենակարևոր հատկանիշներն են։ Շատ է, թե քիչ, չգիտեմ, ես էսքանն եմ սովորեցրել իմ զավակներին։ Ծնված օրվանից ասել եմ՝ մարդու չնեղացնեք, ընկածին բարձրացրեք, կարիքավորին տվեք, խնդրողին մի՛ մերժեք, նեղության մեջ ընկածին մենակ մի՛ թողեք։ Ալեքսանս քչախոս էր, համեստ, հանգիստ, նույնիսկ ամաչկոտ։ Վազգենս աշխույժ էր, չարաճճի, կռվարար։ Բայց, արի ու տես, որ էդ կռվարարը քաղաքացիական մասնագիտություն ընտրեց, իսկ խելոքը, խաղաղասերը դարձավ զինվորական ու հիմա կռվում է թշնամու դեմ։
