Mercury Public Affairs լոբբիստական ընկերությունը խզել է կապերը Թուրքիայի կառավարության հետ հայ-ամերիկյան ակտիվիստների ճնշման արշավից հետո, որոնք դեմ են Հայաստանի դեմ պատերազմում Թուրքիայի կողմից Ադրբեջանին սատարելուն, գրում է Politico-ն: Մի քանի շաբաթ շարունակ հայ-ամերիկյան ակտիվիստները փորձել են զրկել Ադրբեջանին եւ Թուրքիային վաշինգտոնցի լոբբիստներից, որոնց Ամերիկայի Հայ ազգային հանձնաժողովի գործադիր տնօրեն Արամ Համբարյանն անվանել էր զենքի հզոր տեսակներից մեկը: Հայ ազգային հանձնաժողովն եւ Ամերիկայի Հայկական ասամբլեան փորձել են ճնշում գործադրել Mercury ընկերության վրա Վաշինգտոնում եւ Լոս Անջելեսում ընկերության գրասենյակների դիմացն իրականացված ակցիաների միջոցով՝ կոչ անելով ընկերության հաճախորդներին խզել նրանց հետ կապերը, եթե նրանք շարունակեն ներկայացնել Թուրքիային: Արդյունքում Լոս Անջելեսի շրջանի Տնօրենների խորհրդի նախագահ Քեթրին Բարգերն ու Բարաք Օբամայի վարչակազմում աշխատանքի նախկին նախարար Հիլդա Սոլիսը կոչ են արել Mercury-ին անհապաղ խզել բոլոր բիզնես կապերը Թուրքիայի հետ:

Հինգշաբթի Կալիֆոռնիայի խորհրդարանի խոսնակ Էնթոնի Ռենդոնն ու նահանգի 16 ուրիշ օրենսդիրներ հայտարարել են Mercury-ին, որ չեն համագործակցի ընկերության հետ, քանի դեռ այն ներկայացնում է Թուրքիան: Բացի այդ, Լոս Անջելեսի մունիցիպալ քոլեջների շրջանը տեղեկացրել է ընկերությանը, որ 30-օրյա ժամկետում կներկայանա պայմանագիրը խզելու օգտին, եթե Թուրքիան շարունակի լինել Mercury-ի հաճախորդ: Ճնշման հայկական արշավը մեկնարկում է այն ժամանակ, երբ Վաշինգտոնը կենտրոնացնում է ուշադրությունը պատերազմի շուրջ: Կին կոնգրեսական Ջեքի Սպիերն ավելի վաղ ներկայացրել էր բանաձեւ, որով դատապարտում էր Թուրքիայի եւ Ադրբեջանի դերը հակամարտությունում. բանաձեւին միացել էր 67 օրենսդիր: Բացի այդ, ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Մայք Պոմպեոն անցկացրել էր առանձին հանդիպումներ Հայաստանի եւ Ադրբեջանի ԱԳ նախարարների հետ՝ փորձելով վերջ դնել ռազմական գործողություններին: Mercury ընկերությունը պետք է աջակցեր միջոցառումների կազմակերպման հարցում, որոնք թույլ կտային Թուրքիային կապ հաստատել պետական քաղաքականության մեջ շահագրգռված կողմերի հետ, եւ խորհրդատվություն տրամադրեր Թուրքիայի կառավարությունը ԶԼՄ-ների հետ հարաբերությունների շուրջ: Պայմանագրի արժեքը կազմում էր1 մլն դոլար: Սակայն Թուրքիան շարունակում է աշխատել Capitol Advisor եւ Greenberg Traurig լոբբիստական ընկերությունների հետ, մինչդեռ Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունն ունի պայմանագիր BGR Group-ի հետ:

Հիշատակված երկրների լոբբիստների թվին են պատկանում նախկին կոնգրեսականներ Բիլ Դելախունթը, Շառլ Բուստանին, Ռենդի Ֆորբսը եւ Ալբերտ Վինը: Մինչդեռ Հայաստանի կառավարությունն անցած ամիս վարձել էր սենատում հանրապետականների նախկին առաջնորդ Բոբ Դոուլին: Livingston Group-ից եւս մեկ նախկին օրենսդիր Բոբ Լիվինստոնը դադարել է ներկայացնել Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունն անցած շաբաթ՝ չնայած հայտնի չէ՝ եղե՞լ է առհարական Լիվինգստոնն այդ երկրի լոբբիստը: Արամ Համբարյանը հայտնել է, որ նախատեսում է ուժգնացնել ճնշումը BGR Group ընկերության վրա Mercury-ի կապիտուլյացիայից հետո: Սակայն դա կարող է լինել առավել բարդ խնդիր, քանի որ ընկերությունը հայտարարել է, որ մտադիր է շարունակել Ադրբեջանը ներկայացնել:
