Կոնգրեսական Ադամ Շիֆը, խոսելով ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի գրադարանի այն որոշման մասին, որ այսուհետ կիրառվելու է «Հայոց ցեղասպանություն» խորագիրը, նշել է, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը ոչ միայն պատմական հարց է, այլև ուղերձ`ուղղված Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևին և Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանին: «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ այս մասին Շիֆը գրել է «Ֆեյսբուք»-ի իր էջում:
«Այդ որոշումը գնալով ավելի մեծ նշանակություն է ստանում ընթացիկ իրադարձությունների համատեքստում։ Հարյուրամյա վաղեմության ցեղասպանությունը շատ ակնհայտ է զգացվում, երբ Ադրբեջանն ու Թուրքիան այսօր վայրագություններ են իրականացնում Արցախում ու Հայաստանում՝ սպանելով տասնյակ խաղաղ բնակիչների, տեղահանելով հազարավոր մարդկանց։ Ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը պարզապես պատմական հարց չէ, դա ուղերձ է նախագահներ Ալիևին և Էրդողանին, որպեսզի մեզ չվախեցնեն և չպարտադրել լռել։ Մենք կանգնելու ենք Հայաստանի և Արցախի կողքին»,- գրել է Շիֆը:
Հոկտեմբերի 22-ին ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի գրադարանը հայտարարել է, որ այսուհետ կկիրառի «Հայոց ցեղասպանություն» խորագիրը: Նախկինում այնտեղ առկա գրքերը, տարբեր աղբյուրները ներկայացված էին «Հայկական կոտորածներ» խորագրի ներքո:
