Նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի ազգային անվտանգության հարցերով խորհրդական Ռոբերտ Օ'Բրայանն ասել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ին եւ Ռուսաստանին կարող է «մեկ շաբաթ, մեկ ամիս» կամ «նույնիսկ մեկ տարի» պահանջվել՝ Ռազմավարական հարձակողական սպառազինությունների մասին պայմանագրի ժամկետը երկարաձգելու համար, հայտնում է «Ամերիկայի ձայնը»:

Յուրաքանչյուր կողմի ռազմավարական միջուկային սպառազինության ծավալը սահմանափակող պայմանագրի ժամկետը լրանում է փետրվարին:

«Բայց ես կարծում եմ, որ մենք առաջընթաց ունենք, եւ ես գնահատում եմ, որ Ռուսաստանը մոտեցել է մեր դիրքորոշմանը, այնպես որ մենք կտեսնենք, արդյոք կկարողանանք համաձայնության գալ»,- Politico թերթին տված հարցազրույցում ասել է Օ'Բրայանը:

Սպիտակ տան խորհրդականի հայտարարությունը հնչել է այն ժամանակ, երբ ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Մայք Պոմպեոն ընդգծել է վաղ բանակցությունների անհրաժեշտությունը:

«Ռուսաստանը սկզբունքորեն համաձայնել է սառեցնել իր բոլոր միջուկային մարտագլխիկները: Մենք շատ ուրախ ենք այս կապակցությամբ: Բայց մենք պետք է այնպես անենք, որ ամերիկացի եւ ռուսաստանցի բանակցողները հնարավորինս շուտ հավաքվեն եւ շարունակեն աշխատել վերահսկելի համաձայնագրի վրա»,- չորեքշաբթի Պետդեպարտամենտում լրագրողների հետ հարցազրույցում ասել է Պոմպեոն:

Օ'Բրայանը նաեւ ասել է, որ Թրամփը կընդունի ընտրությունների արդյունքները, եթե նոյեմբերի 3-ին պարտվի, բայց քվեարկությունը պետք է լինի ազատ եւ արդար:

«Եթե նա պարտվի ընտրություններում, ապա ես համոզված եմ, որ նախագահը կհանձնի իշխանությունը, բայց մենք պետք է համոզվենք, որ ընտրություններում կեղծիքներ չեն եղել, համոզվենք, որ դրանք եղել են ազատ եւ արդար ընտրություններ։ Ինչպես դա պահանջում ենք այլ երկրներից, այնպես էլ մենք պետք է պահանջենք մեզնից»,- նշել է Օ'Բրայանը:
