ԵՄ գագաթնաժողովին ընդառաջ ԱՄՆ-ն եւ Գերմանիան Հունաստանին եւ Թուրքիային երկխոսության են դրդում:
Մասնավորապես, Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելը կցանկանար, որպեսզի երկու երկրները երկխոսություն սկսեին վճռական գագաթնաժողովից առաջ, որը կքննարկի վերջին զարգացումներն Արեւելյան Միջերկրական ծովում, գրում է Kathimerini-ն:

Երեքշաբթի Միցոտակիսը Եվրոպական խորհրդի նախագահ Չարլզ Միշելի հետ հանդիպումից հետո ասել էր, որ «Թուրքիան դեռ ժամանակ ունի` գագաթնաժողովից առաջ եւ դրանից հետո, շարունակելու այս ճգնաժամից դուրս գալու առաջին հուսադրող քայլը»:
«Դեէսկալացումն Էգեյան եւ Միջերկրական ծովերում պետք է լինի շարունակական եւ հետևողական»,- ասել էր նա:
