 Մարին Լե Պենի գլխավորած «Ազգային ճակատ»-ը դարձել է Ֆրանսիայի տարածաշրջանային ընտրությունների առաջին փուլի անվիճելի հաղթողը: Դեկտեմբերի 6-ին կայացած քվեարկության արդյունքում կուսակցության թեկնածուներն առաջատարն էին երկրի 13 տարածաշրջաններից յոթում: Ընդհանուր առմամբ «Ազգային ճակատը» երկրում հավաք ել է ձայների 29,8 տոկոսը, Նիկոլյա Զարկոզիի գլխավորած Հանրապետականները՝ 26,2 տոկոսը, կառավարող Սոցկուսակցությունը՝ 23,2 տոկոսը:

Այսպիսով, Մարին Լե Պենի կուսակցությունը հետեւում է թողել թե աջերին, թե ձախերին: «Այսուհետեւ Ազգային ճակատն, անտարակույս, Ֆրանսիայի առաջին կուսակցությունն է»,- հայտարարել է Ճակատի ղեկավարը ընտրությունների առաջին փուլի արդյունքների հրապարակումից հետո: «Մենք միակն ենք, ով պաշտպանում է ազգն ու նրա ինքնիշխանությունը,- ընդգծել է Լե Պենը:- Կեցցե Հանրապետությունը, կեցցե Ֆրանսիան»:

Կուսակցության գլխավոր պահանջներից մեկը Ֆրանսիա միգրանտների ներհոսքը կանգնեցնելն է: Ազգային ճակատը նաեւ պնդում է ինքնուրույնությունը Ֆրանսիայի արտաքին քաղաքականության մեջ եւ Եվրամիության հետ հարաբերությունների արմատական վերանայումը:

Լուրջ պարտություն են կրել սոցիալիստները՝ նախագահ Ֆրանսուա Օլանդի կուսակցությունը: Չնայած ֆրանսիացիների հավանությանը ահաբեկչական սպառնալիքի դեմ պայքարում հանրապետության ղեկավարի ձեռնարկած վճռական գործողություններին, «Օլանդի էֆեկտը» դեկտեմբերի 6-ին սպասվող արդյունքը չտվեց:

Առաջին փուլում քվեարկությանը մասնակցելուց հրաժարվել է ընտրողների առնվազն 49 տոկոսը: Հաստատվեց սոցիալիստներին մոտ կանգնած «Լիբերասիոն» թերթի կանխատեսումը, որն ընտրությունների նախօրեին արձանագրել էր «ընտրողների հոգնածությունը չիրականացված խոստումներից, ձգձգվող տնտեսական ճգնաժամից եւ գործազրկության անշեղ աճից»:

 Ֆրանսիայում տարածաշրջանային ընտրությունների երկրորդ փուլը նշանակված Է դեկտեմբերի 13-ին, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
