The Daily Mail-ը հայտնում է, որ AstraZeneca-ի նոր մշակումը իրենից ներկայացնում է ներկարկման համար լուծույթ, որը պարունակում է «կլոնավորված հակամարմիններ»՝ պրոտեիններ, որոնք «գիտեն» ինչպես պայքարել վիրուսի դեմ։ Այդ ներարկմամբ մարդու օրգանիզմը կստանա անհրաժեշտ հակամարմինները, որոնք կօգնեն հաղթահարել հիվանդությունը, եթե նա վարակվի կորոնավիրուսով։
Առաջինը այդպիսի ներարկում, մշակողի խոսքերով, պետք է ստանան տարեց մարդիկ, քանի որ պատվաստանյութերը կարող են նրանց համար այնքան էլ արդյունավետ չլինել։ Բանն այն է, որ պատվաստանյութերը նպաստում են օրգանիզմում սեփական հակամարմինների արտադրությանը՝ ի պատասխան վարակների։ Սակայն տարեց մարդկանց մոտ այդ մեխանիզմը ավելի վատ է աշխատում եւ ավելի քիչ հակամարմիններ են արտադրվում, քան երեիտասարդների մոտ։
