«Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորումը թուլանում է և կորցնում աջակցությունը Սիրիայի և Իրաքի սունի բնակչության շրջանում: Քարոզչությունից խաբված շատ բնակիչներ գիտակցել են, որ իրականում ԻՊ-ն կազմակերպված հանցավոր խմբավորում է, որը ժողովրդին պահում է ուժից վեր հարկերի տակ: Այս մասին նշվում է ամերիկյան The New York Times թերթի հրապարակած վերլուծական հոդվածում:

Վկայակոչելով ՏԱՍՍ-ը, թերթը նման եզրակացության հանգել է այն փախստականների զրույցների հիման վրա, որոնք, փախչելով ԻՊ-ի զինյալների հարստահարումից և  դաժանությունից, անցել են Թուրքիա` հույսով, որ կհասնեն Հունաստան, այնուհետև` Եվրոպայի այլ երկրներ: «Մենք կարծում էինք, թե նրանք ցանկանում են ազատվել վարչակարգից (Սիրիայի), իսկ նրանք, պարզվում է, սովորական ավազակներ և գողեր են»,- ներկայացնում է պարբերականը մի փախստականի խոսքերը, որը գայթակղվելով բարձր աշխատավարձով, աշխատեցնում էր Սիրիայում ԻՊ-ի զավթած պոմպակայանքը:

Մեկ այլ տեխնիկ պատմել է, որ մաքսանենգների է վարձել, որ կնոջն ու երեք երեխաներին Սիրիայում խմբավորման վերակսողության տակ գտնվող տարածքից տեղափոխի Թուրքիա: Նա պարզաբանել է, որ ԻՊ-ն փակել է բոլոր դպրոցները, երեխաները սովորելու տեղ չունեն:

The New York Times-ի գնահատմամբ` ԻՊ-ն զգալի վնասներ է կրում ՌԴ օդատիեզերական ուժերի և ԱՄՆ-ի գլխավորած կոալիցիայի հարվածների արդյունքում: «Մի քանի պետությունների օդային հարվածների ճնշումը, ինչպես նաև քուրդ և շիա աշխարհազորայինների հարձակումն սկսում է ազդել մոջահեդների վրա: Զինյալների մի մասի վարձատրությունը կրճատել են, մյուսները փախչում են ջոկատների տեղակայման վայրերից և թաքնվում»,- գտնում է թերթը: 

Պարբերականի տվյալներով` նավթի մաքսանենգությունից և անօրինական վաճառքից ԻՊ-ի եկամուտներն աստիճանաբար նվազում են: Այդ պատճառով խմբավորումն ստիպված մեծացնում է բնակչության հարկահանումը: Ներկայում ահաբեկիչների գլխավոր խնդիրը փորձառու մասնագետների, առաջին հերթին, նավթագործների, էլեկտրիկների, ճարտարագետների պակասն է: Առանց նրանց ենթակառուցվածքները և կենսաապահովման օբյեկտները շարքից դուրս են գալիս, իսկ որպես պետություն ինքնահռչակ ԻՊ-ի ձևավորման գաղափարն, ըստ պարբերականի, ցնորական է դառնում: Թերթը գտնում է, որ ՌԴ A321 ինքնաթիռի նավակողի ն և Փարիզում ահաբեկչական գործողությունները կատարվել են խմբավորման ողբալի վիճակը քողարկելու նպատակով:
