Կաշվե «հողաթափերից» նրբագույն գուլպաներ ու զուգագուլպաներ

Գուլպաների պատմությունը սկսվել է հին ժամանակներից: Հին Հունաստանում կանանց համար ցուրտ գիշերներին փրկություն է եղել փափուկ կաշվե «հողաթափեր» հագնելը, իսկ տղամարդիկ, ովքեր իրենց համարել են «բարձր կաստայի» ներկայացուցիչներ, գուլպա չեն կրել: Նրանց կարծիքով, դա եղել է ամոթ: 

Քանի դեռ նրանք իրենց երևակայել են որպես աշխարհի տիրակալ, կանայք, ընդհակառակը, վայելել են իրենց ոտքերի պաշտպանված լինելու ողջ հարմարավետությունը: Հետագայում հույն կանայք սկսել են անգամ փողոց դուրս գալ իրենց կաշվե «հողաթափերով»: 

Արդյունքում կես դար անց գուլպաները դարձել են հույների զգեստապահարանի պարտադիր մաս: Միջնադարում գուլպաների արտադրությունը էվոլ յուցիոն թռիչք է արձանագրել: 15-րդ դարի Եվրոպայի գերագույն տիրակալների կյանքը դարձել էր աննախադեպ շքեղության դարաշրջան: Այն ժամանակ ձգտել են պերճաշուք դարձնել բացարձակապես ամեն ինչ` սկսած կահույքից մինչև ներքնազգեստ, և այդ բախտին են արժանացել նաև գուլպաները: 

Կաշվե «հողաթափերին» փոխարինելու են եկել կտորից կարված հաստ գուլպաները, որոնք թաքցնում են ոչ միայն ոտնաթաթերը, այլ նաև ոտքերն ամբողջությամբ: 

Մինչև ծնկները հասնող գուլպաների ստեղծման խթան է հանդիսացել բանակը: Որպես զի պաշտպանեն իրենց ոտքերը, զինվորները սկսել են հագնել երկար նեղ գուլպաներ: Եվրոպական թագավորներն անմիջապես գնահատել են այս նորամուծությունը և անմիջապես իրենց զգեստապահարանները համալրել դրանցով: 

Հենց այդ ժամանակվանից էլ Իտալիայում հայտնվել են կալսոնները` ոտքերը կիպ գրկող վարտիքները: Իսպանիայում ևս սկսել են կրել թանկարժեք գործվածքներից պատրաստված և ասեղնագործ գեղեցիկ նախշերով կամ թանկարժեք քարերով զարդարված գուլպաներ: 

Այդպիսի գուլպաներ կրել են բացառապես ազնվական դասի տղամարդիկ, և դրանք երբեմն նույնիսկ փոխարինել են սովորական տաբատին: Ի տարբերություն Իսպանիայի, Մեծ Բրիտանիայում գուլպաների հիմնական սպառողները կանայք են եղել: 

Այդ ամենը՝ շնորհիվ Էլիզաբեթ Առաջին թագուհու, որը մինչև ծնկները հասնող մետաքսե գուլպաների մեծ երկրպագու էր և դրանով էլ նպաստել է, որ իր երկրում տեքստիլ արդյունաբերության տվյալ ճյուղը արագորեն զարգանա: 

Կապված ջուլհակագործության զարգացման հետ՝ գուլպաների պատմությունը նոր թռիչք է արձանագրել 16-րդ դարի վերջին, այդ ժամանակվանից սկսվել է գուլպա-զուգագուլպաների զանգվածային արտադրությունը: 

Մի քանի դար անց էլ Ֆրանսիայում հայտնվել է գուլպայագործական առաջին հաստոցը: Մոտավորապես հարյուր տարի առաջ հայտնվել են այն տեսակի գուլպաներ, ինչպիսիք արտադրվում են հիմա: Ժամանակի ընթացքում առաջացել է նաև ռետինե երիզներով գուլպաների և կապրոնե զուգագուլպաների պահանջարկ: 

20-րդ դարի սկզբին գուլպաներով սկսել են հետաքրքրվել մոդել յորները: Նրանք բազմաթիվ փորձարկումներ են իրականացրել ինչպես գուլպաների նյութի տեսակներով, այնպես էլ արտաքին տեսքով և գույնով: 

Գուլպաները և զուգագուլպաները ներկայումս էլ հանդիսանում են զգեստապահարանի այնպիսի կարևոր բաղկացուցիչ, ինչպես շրջազգեստները, տաբատները, ներքնազգեստները և այլն:
