Ատամի մածուկ. աղուպղպեղից, այրված կենդանիներից

Ատամի մածուկը դոնդողանման զանգված է (մածուկի կամ գելի տեսքով)՝ նախատեսված ատամների մաքրման համար։ Համարվում է, որ ատամի մածուկի հայտնագործողները եղել են հին եգիպտացիները մեր թվարկությունից 5000-ից 3000 տարի առաջ: 

Այդ մասին կան հիշատակումներ եգիպտական մանուսկրիպտներում։ Այդ ատամնամածուկները պատրաստվել են աղի և պղպեղի փոշենման զանգվածից, անանուխի տերևներից, իրիսի ծաղիկներից։ Այլ բաղադրատոմս է եղել ցուլի ներքին օրգանների այրումից ստացված ածուխից, գինեթթվից և պեմզայից ստացվող խառնուրդը։ 

Գիտնականները կարծում են, որ այդ մածուկները օգտագործվել են մատների օգնությամբ, քանի որ ատամնախոզանակների մասին հիշատակումներ չկան։ 

Բերանի խոռոչի հիգիենան կարևոր է եղել ոչ միայն Հին Եգիպտոսում, այլ նաև Հնդկաստանում, ուր դա համարվել է փիլիսոփայական գաղափարախոսություն։ 

Բուդդան մեծ ուշադրություն է դարձրել ատամների մաքրմանը և իր հիգիենիկ ծիսակարգում օգտագործել է Սաաք աստծու կողմից տրված՝ ատամների մաքրման փայտիկը։ Իսկ ընդհանրապես, ժամանակակից ատամնամածուկների և ընդհանրապես բերանի խոռոչի հիգիենայի միջոցների հիմնադիրներն են համարվում հույները և հռոմեացիները։ Չնայած նրանց որոշ մեթոդներ փոքր-ինչ կասկածի տեղիք են տալիս։ 

Օրինակ՝ որոշ կենդանիների (մկներ, ճագարներ, ցլեր, այծեր) հրկիզումից ստացված մոխիրով լնդերի մերսումները, գայլի ոսկորով վզնոց- թալիսմանը, որը պաշտպանում էր ատամնացավից, տարին երեք անգամ կրիայի արյունով ողողումները: 

Բերանի խոռոչի հիգիենայի զարգացման մեջ մեծ ներդրում են ունեցել պարսիկները՝ նպաստելով ատամնամածուկների կատարելագործմանը։ 

Նրանք դեմ են եղել շատ կոշտ ատամնամածուկների կիրառմանը։ 

Պարսիկները կիրառել են ատամնափոշի, որը պատրաստվել է եղնիկի եղջյուրի մանրացված հատիկներից, խխունջի մանրացված խեցուց, թրծված գիպսի փոշուց։ Այսպիսով՝ ատամնամածուկների նախատիպերը եղել են ատամնափոշիները։ Այնուամենայնիվ, միջնադարում ատամները մաքրել են միայն ազնվականները: 

Ներկայումս օգտագործվող ատամնամածուկի նախատիպը ստեղծվել է 18-րդ դարում Մեծ Բրիտանիայում, սակայն դրանք շատ կոշտ են եղել, քանի որ այն պատրաստելու համար օգտագործվել են աղյուսի փոշի, կավի մանրահատիկներ, մանրացված ճենապակի, արդյունքում դրանք վնասել են էմալը։

 Հետագայում, որպեսզի մածուկները հաճելի լինեն օգտագործման համար, սկսել են դրան գլիցերին՝ օճառ ավելացնել։ Նման օճառային ատամի մածուկներ հայտնվել են 1824 թվականին: 

1850 թվականին Ջոն Հարրիսը սկսել է կավճից պատրաստված ատամի փոշի արտադրել: 

1873 թվականին առաջին անգամ Colgate ընկերությունն է ներկայացրել արոմատիզացված ատամնամածուկ տարայով։ 

Հետագայում դրանք սկսել են արտադրվել սրվակներում. սկզբում՝ ալ յումինե, հետագայում՝ պլաստիկ։ 

20-րդ դարի սկզբին հայտնվել է առաջին ատամի մածուկը, որը ոչ միայն ատամներն է մաքրում, այլ նաև թարմացնում է շնչառությունը: Իսկ 20-րդ դարի կեսերի կարևորագույն նորարարությունն է եղել ֆտորի ներառումը ատամնամածուկի մեջ։
