17 տարեկան այս գեղեցկուհուն դատարանը դատապարտել է 20 տարվա ազատազրկման. Նրա արարքը ներում չունի…
LIFEՄիշել Քարթերն ստիպված կլինի 20 տարի բանտում անցկացնել, եթե մեղադրողներին հաջողվի ապացուցել, որ նա համոզել է ընկերոջը՝ Քոնրադ Ռոյին, վերջ տալ կյանքին։2014 թվականի ամառային մի օր Քոնրադ Ռոյն ընկերուհուց՝ 17-ամյա Միշել Քարթերից, հետևյալ բովանդակությամբ հաղորդագրություն է ստացել.
– Ես մտածում էի, թե դու ուզում էիր անել դա. ճիշտ ժամանակն է անելու դա հիմա, ու դու պատրաստ ես… պարզապես արա դա, սիրելիս։Այսպես նա համոզում էր 18-ամյա ընկերոջը ինքնասպան լինել։ Ու նա սպանեց ինքն իրեն։
Քարթերի այս արարքը, անխոս, արդարացում չունի ու սխալ է, բայց արդյո՞ք դա օրենքի խախտում է՝ այս շաբաթ կորոշի դատարանը։ Այժմ արդեն 20 տարեկան Քարթերը մեղադրվում է դիտավորյալ սպանության մեջ։ Մեղադրական դատավճռի դեպքում Քարթերը կդատապարտվի 20 տարվա ազատազրկման։
Չնայած ինքնասպանությանն աջակցելու համար Մասսաչուսեթսում պատասխանատվություն չի նախատեսվում, բայց Քարթերն այն աստիճանի է ներգրավված դրա մեջ, որ ենթադրվում է, որ նա ոչ միայն օգնել է Ռոյին ինքնասպան լինել, այլև դրդել է նրան դա անելուն։
Դպրոցական այս զույգը հարյուրավոր հաղորդագրություններ է փոխանակել Ռոյի վերջին օրվանից առաջ ու ևս մի քանի տասնյակ հաղորդագրություն՝ մինչև առավոտ՝ նրա մահը։
Քարթերը գրել է.
– Դու վերջապես երջանիկ կլինես դրախտում։ Այլևս ոչ մի ցավ։ Բնական է, որ վախենում ես, բան չկա։ Նկատի ունեմ՝ դու մահվան շեմին ես։
Երբ Ռոյը կարծես ուզում էր հետ կանգնել այդ ծրագրից, ընկերուհին ճնշում էր նրան։
– Ուրեմն՝ չե՞ս ուզում դա անել։ Այնքան շփոթված եմ. կարծում էի՝ դու պատրաստ ես ու տրամադրված։
Նա Քարթերին գրել էր, որ ուզում է քնել։ Առավոտ շուտ էր։
– Պարզապես կայանիր մեքենադ, նստիր այնտեղ, ու ընդամենը 20 րոպե կտևի. մեծ բան չէ։
Վերջապես Ռոյը գնում է ավտոկայանատեղի ու ածխածնի օքսիդ լցնում մեքենայի մեջ։ Մի պահ, սակայն, նա վախենում է, դուրս գալիս մեքենայից ու զանգում Քարթերին։
Իսկ նա ընկերոջը հրամայում է վերադառնալ մեքենա ու հետո, ինչպես մեղադրողներն են ասում, Քարթերը լսել է՝ ինչպես է ընկերը 20 րոպե բղավում ցավից ու մահանում։
Մեղադրողներն այն վարկածն են առաջ քաշում, որ նա պարզապես օգտագործել է Քոնրադին, ով գնացել է մեկ ուրիշ դպրոց՝ նրա ընկերների ուշադրությունը գրավելու համար։
Քարթերը վախեցել է, որ եթե Ռոյն ինքնասպան չլինի, ինքն ընկերների մոտ ստախոս դուրս կգա։
Պաշտպանության կողմն էլ այն վարկածն է առաջարկում, որ Ռոյը դեպրեսիվ վիճակում է եղել ու նախկինում էլի է ինքնասպանության փորձ արել, ու Քարթերն իրենց հարաբերությունների սկզբում պարզապես փորձել է համոզել նրան օգնություն ստանալ։Քարթերի դատապաշտպանն ասում է, որ սա ինքնասպանություն է, ոչ թե սպանություն։
