Համաձայնագիրը, որը կնշանավորի Վաշինգտոնի եւ Պեկինի վերջնական առեւտրային գործարքի բանակցությունների շրջանակում առաջին փուլի ավարտը, ԱՄՆ-ում կստորագրվի այն դեպքում, եթե ձեռք բերվի: ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփն այս մասին կիրակի լրագրողներին ասել է Նյու Յորքից վերադառնալուց հետո Սպիտակ տան Հարավային մարգագետնում զրույցի ժամանակ: ԱՄՆ նախագահի ելույթը հեռարձակել են ամերիկյան հեռուստաընկերությունները, հայտնում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:

Թրամփը նշել է առեւտրային ոլորտում վեճերի կարգավորման ամերիկա-չինական բանակցություններում առաջընթացի մասին: «Ես առաջին հերթին ցանկանում եմ (առեւտրային) գործարք կնքել: Կարելի է շատ հեշտ ընտրել հանդիպման վայրը (որտեղ կողմերը համաձայնագիրը կստորագրեն): Նախ տեսնենք՝ կստացվի գործարք կնքել: Եթե մենք գործարք կնքենք, ապա հանդիպման վայրն ընտրելն անչափ հեշտ կլինի: Դա կլինի ԱՄՆ-ում ինչ-որ տեղ»,- նշել է Թրամփը:

 Նախագահ Թրամփը հոկտեմբերի 11-ին Չինաստանի Պետխորհրդի փոխվարչապետ Լյու Հեի հետ բանակցությունների արդյունքներով հայտարարել էր, որ Վաշինգտոնն ու Պեկինը առեւտրում երկկողմ վեճերի կարգավորման գործարքի շրջանակում մոտեցել են «նշանակալի առաջին փուլին»: Նա հավելել էր, որ ձեռք բերված պայմանավորվածությունները «կգրանցվեն թղթի վրա»: Սպասվում էր, որ Չինաստանի նախագահ Սի Ցզինպինը եւ Թրամփը կհանդիպեն նոյեմբերի 17-ին Չիլիում ԱԽՏՀ շրջանակում, որ ավարտեն առեւտրային համաձայնությունների առաջին փուլը:
