Հինգշաբթի ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը նկարագրելով Սիրիայի հյուսիս-արեւելքում ստեղծված իրավիճակը՝ Թուրքիային եւ քրդերին համեմատել է 2 երեխայի հետ, հայտնում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը: 

 

«Նրանց երբեմն պետք է թույլ տալ մի փոքր կռվել, հետո մարդիկ հասկանում են, թե ռազմական գործողությունները որքան դաժան կարող են լինել... Սա այնպես է, ինչպես երկու երեխայի դեպքում. նրանք պետք է իրար հետ կռվեն, իսկ հետո նրանց իրարից բաժանեն»,- ասել է ամերիկացի առաջնորդը՝ Տեխաս նահանգում ելույթ ունենալով իր կողմնակիցների առջեւ:

 

«Նրանք պատերազմոել են մի քանի օր, որը բավականին կատաղի էր: Քրդերը մեր բարեկամներն են, Թուրքիան նույնպես մեր բարեկամն է, բայց նրանք պատերազմնել են...դա սարսափելի էր... Նրանք չեն կարողացել համաձայնության հասնել... Մենք ուղեւորվեցինք այնտեղ եւ ասացինք, որ դադար ենք ցանկանում»,- հավելել է ԱՄՆ նախագահը:

 

Հինգշաբթի Անկարայում խորհրդակցություններ էին տեղի ունեցել ամերիկյան եւ թուրքական պատվիրակությունների միջեւ՝ ԱՄՆ փոխնախագահ Մայքլ Փենսի եւ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Թայիփ Էրդողանի նախագահությամբ: ԱՄՆ ներկայացուցիչներն այցով Թուրքիա են ժամանել, որ երկրի ղեկավարությանը համոզեն դադարեցնել Սիրիայում գործողությունը: Բանակցությունների արդյունքներով Փենսը հայտարարել էր, որ Թուրքիան համաձայնվել է 120 ժամով գործողությունը դադարեցնել, որ «Դեմոկրատական Սիրիայի ուժեր» կոալիցիայի մեջ մտնող քրդական ջոկատները հեռանան Անկարայի կողմից ստեղծվող անվտանգության սահմանապահ գոտու շրջանից: Նրա խոսքով՝ կիրականացվեն քրդերի կազմավորումների հետքաշում սահմանազատման գծից, որը գտնվում է Թուրքիայի եւ Սիրիայի սահմանից մոտ 30 կմ հարավ:
