Ամերիկյան զինվորականները Սիրիայի Արաբական Հանրապետությունում սեղմվել են թուրքական զորքերի, որոնք գործողություն են իրականացնում քրդական կազմավորումների դեմ, եւ սիրիական բանակի միջեւ, այս մասին Fox News-ի եթերում ասել է Պենտագոնի ղեկավար Մարկ Էսփերը, տեղեկացնում է ՌԻԱ «Նովոստի»-ն։

«Ամերիկյան զորքերը հայտնվել են թուրքական բանակին հակահարված տալու համար դեպի հյուսիս շարժվող սիրիական բանակի ծուղակում»,- ասել է պաշտպանության նախարարը՝ ստեղծված իրավիճակն անվանելով «ահավոր»։

Ընդ որում, Էսփերը նշել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ը «չի ստորագրել» Թուրքիայի հետ պայքարելու որոշման տակ հանուն սիրիացի քրդերի պաշտպանության։ Նա նաեւ ընդունել է, որ Վաշինգտոնը բավականաչափ ուժեր չունի տարածաշրջանում՝ թուրքական զորքերի հարձակումը կանգնեցնելու համար։

Ավելի վաղ Պենտագոնի ղեկավարը հայտարարել էր, որ ԱՄՆ-ը դուրս կբերի եւս մոտ հազար զինծառայող Սիրիայից։ Ինչպես տեղեկացրել է Ռոյթըրը՝ հղում կատարելով աղբյուրին, ԱՄՆ-ը դիտարկում է Սիրիայից առաջիկա օրերին զորքերի հիմնական մասի դուրսբերման հնարավորությունը, դրա համար կպահանջվի ավելի քան երկու շաբաթ։

Կիրակի հայտնի է դարձել, որ սիրիական բանակը կտեղակայվի Թուրքիայի հետ ողջ սահմանին՝ քրդերին օգնելու համար։ Կառավարական զորքերն արդեն սկսել են ուժեր նետել երկրի հյուսիս, որտեղ իրականացվում է թուրքական բանակի գործողությունը։

Թուրքիայի նախագահ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հոկտեմբերի 9-ին հայտարարել է «Խաղաղության ակունք» գործողություն սկսելու մասին Սիրիայի հյուսիսում՝ ուղղված Թուրքիայում արգելված Քրդստանի բանվորական կուսակցության եւ «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորման դեմ։ Թուրքական ավիացիան նույն օրը հարվածներ է հասցրել Ռաս էլ Այն քաղաքին եւ սիրիական մի շարք այլ քաղաքների երկու երկրների սահմանին։

Ավելի ուշ հայտարարվել է գործողության վերգետնյա մասի սկսվելու մասին։ Շաբաթ օրը Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը տեղեկացրել է, որ թուրքական զինվորականները եւ սիրիական զինված ընդդիմությունը վերահսկողության տակ են վերցրել Ռաս էլ Այնը, իսկ կիրակի Anadolu գործակալությունը տեղեկացրել է Թել Աբյադ քաղաքի վերահսկման մասին։
