Մերի Ֆլորա Բելը 11 տարեկան հրեշ է եղել, ով սենսացիա է առաջացրել 1968թ.՝ սպանելով 2 փոքր տղաների Նյուքասլ քաղաքում,-տեղեկացնում է Past.am-ը: 4-ամյա Մարթին Բրաունը հայտնաբերվել է 1968թ. մայիսի 25-ին Նյուքասլի փողոցներից մեկում գտնվող մի լքված տանը խեղդված վիճակում: Պատահարը հետաքննող ոստիկանները գտել են 4 գրություն, որոնցից մեկը վերաբերել է Մարթին Բրաունի մահվանը: 1968թ. հուլիսի 31-ին 3-ամյա Բրայան Հաուին գտել են մահացած: Նրան խեղդել էին և մարմնի վրա արել բազմաթիվ փոքր կտրվածքներ: Ոստիկանությունը ձեռնարկել է հետաքննություն, որի ընթացքում հարցաքննվել են 1200 երեխաներ:

2 աղջիկներ՝ Նորմա Ջոյս Բելն ու Մերի Ֆլորա Բելը (ազգակցական կապ չեն ունեցել), տվել են կասկածելի կամ խուսափողական պատասխաններ: Յուրաքանչյուրին հարցաքննել են մի քանի անգամ, և նրանք երկու անգամ փոխել են իրենց պատմությունները: Նրանցից յուրաքանչյուրը մեղադրել է մյուսին Բրայան Հաուի կոկորդը սեղմելու մեջ, իսկ Մերին մեղադրել է Նորմային նրա մարմնի վրա ածելու սայրով կտրվածքներ անելու մեջ: Երկուսն էլ ձերբակալվել են 1968-ի օգոստոսի 5-ին և մեղավոր են ճանաչել: Մերի Բելը ծնվել է 1957թ. մայիսի 26-ին:

Նրա մայրը՝ Բեթի Բելը, եղել է 17-ամյա անբարոյական, ով ավելի ուշ ամուսնացել է գող ու հանցագործ Բիլի Բելի հետ: Մերին մեծացել է այս ճնշող միջավայրում և գողության, վանդալիզմի, այլ երեխաների վրա հարձակումներ գործելու հեղինակություն է ունեցել: Նրանց դատավարության ժամանակ Մերին շատ վստահ ու հանգիստ է եղել: Երկու աղջիկներն էլ ընդունել են, որ ներխուժել են դպրոց և թողել են գրություններ: 9 օր տևած դատից հետո Նորմային անմեղ են ճանաչել, որովհետև շփոթված ու չափազանց վախեցած տեսք է ունեցել ամբողջ գործընթացի ընթացքում: Մերին մեղավոր է ճանաչվել մարդասպանության մեջ և դատապարտվել ցմահ բանտարկության:

8 տարի գաղութում անցկացնելուց հետո նրան տեղափոխել են «Մոր Քորթ« բանտ, որտեղից էլ փախել է 1970թ. 2 տղաների հետ: Նրանք ազատության մեջ են եղել ընդամենը 2 օր: Ապա Մերիին 1980-ին ազատ են արձակել: 1998թ. հրատարակվել է նրա կենսագրական գիրքը: Պարզվել է նաև, որ նրան վարձատրել են իր պատմության համար:
