Սեւանա լիճ թափվող գետերից կենսածին նյութերով աղտոտված են Գավառագետը, Ծակքար, Շողվագ, Մասրիկ, Արգիճի գետերը:
Կենսածին նյութերով աղտոտվածության հավանական պատճառ են հանդիսանում կոմունալ-կենցաղային կեղտաջրերի՝ առանց պատշաճ մակարդակով մաքրվելու արտահոսքերը, ինչպես նաեւ գյուղատնտեսական հոսքաջրերը:
Ամբողջապես չմաքրված կոմունալ-կենցաղային կեղտաջրերը իրենց հետ գետեր, իսկ այնուհետեւ լիճ են տանում ազոտի եւ ֆոսֆորի զգալի քանակություն»։
