Տրանսանատոլիական խողովակաշարի նախագծի (TANAP)  մասին որոշումը ընդունել է ադրբեջանական «Շահ դենիզ» կոնսորցիումն, ու Հայաստանը դուրս է մնացել այդ նախագծից Ադրբեջանի պատճառով: Գազ տեղափոխելու մենակարճ ճանապարհը կլիներ Հայաստանը: Այս մասին Երեւանում ՆԱՏՕ-ի Խորհրդարանական վեհաժողովի ՌՈՈՒԶ ՌՈԹ 89-րդ սեմինարին  հայտարարեց Լոնդոնի Թագավորական քոլեջի փորձագետ Թրեյսի Ջերմանը` ի պատասխան Իտալիայի պատվիրակության անդամ Ռոբերտո Մաոասուտայի հարցին, թե ինչու Հայաստանը ներգրավված չէ Հարավային Կովկասում էներգետիկ նախագծերում։ «Համաձայն եմ` գազ տեղափոխելու ամենակարճ ճանապարհը կլիներ այն Հայաստանի տարածքով անցկացնելը, սակայն աշխարհաքաղաքական իրողությունները խաղացել են իրենց դերը»,- ասաց Ջերմանը։

Տրանսանատոլիական խողովակաշարը «Հարավային գազային միջանցքի»առանցքային հատվածներից է: Դրա միջոցով Կասպից ծովում գտնվող «Շահ-Դենիզ» հանքավայրում արդյունահանված գազը Թուրքիայի տարածքովարտահանվելու է Հարավային Եվրոպա. 2020 թվականի սկզբին 1850 կիլեմետրերկարությամբ TANAP-ը կմիացվի Տրանսադրիատիկ գազատարին, բնականգազ կստանա Հարավկովկասյան գազատարից և այն՝ Իտալիայի, Հունաստան ի ու Ալբանիայի տարածքներով կտեղափոխվի Եվրոպա։ Անկարայում ևԲաքվում հույս ունեն, որ 2018 թվականից շահագործվելիք այսխողովակաշարով արտահանվող գազի ծավալները տարեցտարի աճելու են:Սկզբնական շրջանում նախատեսվում է արտահանել տարեկան 16 միլիարդխորանարդ մետր գազ՝ այդ թիվը հասցնելով տարեկան մինչև 31 միլիարդխորանարդ մետրի:
