«Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորման զինյալների կողմից Սիրիայում եւ Իրաքում վերահսկվող տարածքն ընդհանուր ջանքերով արդեն հաջողվել է կրճատել 25 տոկոսով: Այդ մասին, ԱՄՆ-ի պետքարտուղար Ջոն Քերին հայտարարել է CNN հեռուստաընկերությանը տված հարցազրույցում, որն ամբողջությամբ եթեր է տրվել նոյեմբերի 17-ին:
Նույն օրն ավելի վաղ նա նշել է, թե Վաշինգտոնն ակնկալում է մի քանի շաբաթվա ընթացքում համաձայնության հասնել Սիրիայի կառավարության եւ ընդդիմության միջեւ հրադադարի հաստատման շուրջ, որպեսզի հնարավոր լինի կենտրոնանալ ահաբեկիչների դեմ մղվող պայքարի վրա: Քերին ասել է, որ այդ կոնսուլտացիաները պետք է անցկացվեն Ռուսաստանի եւ Իրանի մասնակցությամբ:
«Դա մեզ հնարավորություն կտա հրադադարի հասնել, հնարավոր է, երեք, չորս, հինգ շաբաթվա ընթացքում,- հայտնել է նա:- Այնուհետեւ մենք կկարողանանք քաղաքական գործընթացի միջոցով աշխատել մյուս կողմերի հետ, որպեսզի ուժեղացնենք ճնշումն ԻՊ-ի վրա», հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
