Այսօր մենք հարգանքի տուրք ենք մատուցում Հայոց Մեծ Եղեռնի զոհերի հիշատակին.

Հայոց ցեղասպանության առանձնահատկություններից է այն, որ ցեղասպանության ենթարկված ժողովուրդը ոչ միայն բնաջնջվել է ֆիզիկապես, այլ նաեւ զրկվել է իր հայրենիքում ապրելու իրավունքից: Այս մասին ասված է ՀՀ վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակի օրվա կապակցությամբ արված ուղերձում:

Ուղերձում նաեւ նշվում է. «Մեզ հետեւողականորեն զրկել են այն հողից, որտեղ հազարամյակների ընթացքում ձեւավորվել եւ զարգանում էր հայկական մշակույթը, հայկական ինքնությունը: Երկրի երեսից ջնջվել է հայկական ինքնությունը կազմող մշակութային ժառանգությունը՝ հազարավոր դպրոցներ, եկեղեցիներ եւ վանքեր:

Ոչնչացվել են հայկական մշակույթի էության կրողները՝ նրա մտավորականությունն ու հոգեւորականությունը: Դա հսկայական հարված էր ոչ միայն հայ ժողովրդին, նրա մշակույթին ու նրա մշակութաբանական տեսակին, այլ նաեւ մարդկային ողջ քաղաքակրթությանը:

Անդառնալիորեն կորել է համաշխարհային մշակույթի մաս կազմող մի ուրույն եւ ինքնատիպ շերտ: Հայերի, հույների եւ ասորիների ցեղասպանությանբ անդառնալիորեն փոխվել է մի ողջ տարածաշրջանի մշակութային պատկերը։ Միթե սա հանցագործություն չէր մարդկության դեմ։

Ոճրագործը ոչնչացրեց մեր պոետներին՝ նրանց, ովքեր կազմում էին մեր խիղճը, մեր ինքնության առանցքը։ Ուստի մեր շարունակական պայքարը մեր էության, մեր տեսակի պահպանության համար է։ Մոռանալով նրանց հիշատակը, մոռանալով նրանց մշակութային ժառանգությունը՝ մենք կդավաճանենք մեր էությանը։ Նրանց հիշատակը վառ պահելով, պայքարելով արդարության վերականգնման համար՝ մենք ձեռք կբերենք անմահություն։ Ուստի մենք հետեւողական ենք լինելու Հայոց ցեղասպանության միջազգային ճանաչման գործում»:
