Ապրիլյան պատերազմից հետո Գեւորգն ավելի լռակյաց է դարձել․ 11 տարեկան էր, երբ դպրոցի բակում մի քանի արկ պայթեց, ինչի հետեւանքով ավագ եղբայրը զոհվեց, իսկ ինքն ու ընկերը ծանր վիրավորում ստացան։

Ապրիլի 2-ի մասին Գեւորգը չի խոսում, նույնիսկ ծնողներին ստիպել է հեռանալ Մարտունու Զորական ավանից, որտեղ ադրբեջանական հրետակոծության հետեւանքով 12-ամյա եղբայրը սպանվել է։ Տղային ավանում ամեն ինչ այդ ճակատագրական օրվա դեպքն է հիշեցնում․ ընկերոջ՝ Վարդանի հետ մի կողմում զրուցում էին, մի քիչ հեռու եղբայրն էր, իսկ մայրն ընկերուհու հետ էր կանգնած, երբ առաջին արկը պայթեց։ Գեւորգն ու Վարդանը վնասվածք էին ստացել ազդրերի շրջանում, իսկ Վաղարշակը՝ կրծքավանդակի։ Այս ամբողջը տեղի է ունեցել Գեւորգի ու Վաղարշակի մոր՝ տիկին Գայանեի աչքի առջեւ։

«Երեխաների դպրոցի ճանապարհին էր, ես տեսել եմ․․․ իմ աչքի առաջ է ամեն ինչ կատարվել, իրենցից մի քանի քայլ հեռավորության վրա էի ընկերուհուս հետ․․․ Առավոտյան սովորականի պես դասի էինք գնում, պատերազմի մասին մեր ավանում որեւէ մեկը տեղեկացված չէր, ամեն մեկս իր գործին էր։ Դպրոցի բակում էինք, երբ արկը պայթեց, իմ ձայնից բոլորը հավաքվեցին․․․»,- պատմում է նա։

Տիկին Գայանեն հիշում է՝ դեպքից հետո մեքենա չէին գտնում երեխաներին հիվանդանոց տեղափոխելու համար։ Գեւորգին ու Վարդանին հիվանդանոց է հասցրել Վարդանի 15-ամյա եղբայրը, իսկ Վաղարշակին՝ աշխատանքից ուշացած մի սպա։

Չնայած ընդամենը 12 տարեկան էր, Վաղարշակը շատ երազանքներ ու նպատակներ ուներ, դրանց հասնելու համար էլ դպրոցում գերազանց էր սովորում, մայրը երբեք ուսուցիչներից բողոք չի լսել․ «Հետաքրքրասեր երեխա էր, ասում էր՝ մեծանամ, անպայման ճանապարհորդելու եմ։ Կենդանիներ էր սիրում, բույն էր սարքում, շան ձագեր պահում, ինձանից թաքուն էլ հաց տանում նրանց համար։ Վաղոն շատ ընկերասեր էր, սիրում էր շփվել իրենից մեծերի հետ, անընդհատ զորամաս էր գնում, զինվորների հետ էր շփվում, զինվոր ընկերներ ուներ»։

Վաղարշակը երազում էր բժիշկ դառնալ, լինել Ալյասկայում ու ունենալ սեփական ձիաբուծարանը։ 12-ամյա տղան ազատ տիրապետում էր անգլերենին ու ռուսերենին, որոշել էր եւս մի քանի լեզու սովորել, որ ճանապարհորդելիս հաղորդակցվելու խոչընդոտ չունենա․ «Իր երազանքներով, նպատակներով տարբերվում էր իր հասակակիցներից, երեխայի նման չէր մտածում, ես էլ բարկանում էի, ասում էր՝ ոնց որ ծերունի լինես, մեծ-մեծ բաներից ես խոսում»։

Գրիգորյանների ընտանիքը դեպքից հետո տեղափոխվել է Շուշի և վարձով է ապրում։ Ապրիլյան պատերազմից 3 տարի անց էլ նրանք չեն հասկանում՝ ինչպես եղավ, որ այդ օրն առավոտյան ոչ ոք իրենց չզգուշացրեց՝ գոնե երեխաներին դպրոց չտանել, չէ՞ որ իրենց դպրոցը հենց զորամասի մոտ է, ու հակառակորդը կարող էր շատ հանգիստ հրթիռակոծել այդ հատվածը։

Հիշեցնենք, որ ադրբեջանական զինուժի կողմից 2016թ․ ապրիլի 2-ին ժամը 08:30-ի սահմաններում Մարտունու պաշտպանական ուղղությամբ ՄՄ-21 («Գրադ») կայանքից հրթիռահրետակոծվել էր Մարտունու Զորական գյուղի դպրոցը։ 12-ամյա Վաղարշակ Գրիգորյանը սպանվել էր, իսկ նրա եղբայրն ու ընկերը վիրավորվել էին։
