Մարտի 25-ին Ժամը 21:00-ի սահմաններում Մարտունի քաղաքի բնակիչ, 24-ամյա Էդմոն Ասլանյանը Opel մակնիշի ավտոմեքենայով Սևան-Մարտունի-Գետափ ավտոճանապարհին վրաերթի է ենթարկել 15-ամյա Արմեն Ժամկոչյանին: Վարորդը փախուստի չի դիմել, վրաերթի ենթարկվածին իր ավտոմեքենայով փորձել է տեղափոխել Մարտունի բժշկական կենտրոն, սակայն ճանապարհին տղան մահացել է:
Մարտունու քաղաքապետ Արմեն Ավետիսյանը Armdaily.am-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց, որ Արմենը հասարակ ընտանիքի զավակ է եղել.«Շատ տխուր դեպք է, չեմ ուզում այս մասին երկար խոսել: Ընթանում է հետաքննություն, թե վարորդը արագ է վարել, ով է եղել մեղավոր, ես դրա մասին չգիտեմ»: 
Armdaily.am-ը զրուցեց նաև Մարտունու՝ Մելիք Շահումյանցի թիվ 2 հիմնական դպրոցի տնօրեն Խանում Ղազարյանի հետ, որտեղ սովորել է Ժամկոչյանը: Տնօրենի խոսքերով Արմենը շատ խելացի, ընկերասեր և համեստ տղա է եղել.«Մարդն ինչքան լավ հատկանիշ ունի, Արմենն ուներ»; Ղազարյանը նշեց, որ իրենց աշակերտը շատ խելոք է եղել.«Չար երեխա չէր, անկարգություններ չէր անում: Եթե անում էլ էր, փորձում էր հումորով ամեն բան հարթեցնել: Շատ հումորով տղա էր: Դասղեկը վերջերս ասել է՝ միայն բոյներդ է ավելանում, պետք է խելքներդ բոյներիդ չափ լինի, ասել է՝ հիմա բոյի ավելացման ժամանակն է, խելքներս 2 տարուց կհավաքենք»:
