Չինաստանը, որպես տնտեսապես դինամիկ զարգացող երկիր, շարունակաբար մեծացնում է իր հետաքրքրությունը մեր տարածաշրջանում: Չինական կողմի հետ թե տնտեսական և թե քաղաքական հարաբերությունների զարգացման ուղղությունը Հայաստանը շարունակաբար ներառում է արտաքին հարաբերությունների առաջնահերթությունների ցանկում:

Հաշվի առնելով Չինաստանի մեծացող ամբիցիաները, կարելի է նշել մասնակցություն ունենա տարածաշրջանային և ստրատեգիական նշանակություն ունեցող նախագծերի: Այս տեսանկյունից տրանզիտային առումով հատկապես ահռելի նշանակություն կունենա Իրան-Հայաստան երկաթուղու կառուցումը, որի կառուցումը ֆինանսավորելու հարցում Չինաստանը դեռևս ճշտում է իրեն անհրաժեշտ դետալները:

ՀՀ-ում ՉԺՀ-ի դեսպան Թիան Էրլունը լրատվականներից մեկի հետ զրույցում, անդրադառնալով Իրան-Հայաստան երկաթգծի կառուցման հարցում Չինաստանի ներգրավվածությանը, նշել է. «Հայաստանի մոտ առկա է ցանկություն կառուցելու հայ-իրանական երկաթգիծ, և մի շարք չինական ընկերություններ ուսումնասիրում են այդ հարցում համագործակցության ու երկաթգծի շինարարության համաֆինանսավորման հնարավորությունը: Չինաստանը պատրաստակամություն է հայտնել ուսումնասիրել համագործակցության հնարավորությունները, սակայն վերը նշված հարցում համագործակցության պայմանները պետք է դեռևս քննարկվեն»: Դեսպանը նաև հավելել է, որ հայ-իրանական երկաթգիծը կարող է ինտեգրվել «Մետաքսի ճանապարհի» վերածննդի նախագծում:

Դեսպանի այս ակնարկները փաստում են այն մասին, որ Չինաստանը ցանկանում է լուրջ դերակատարում ստանձնել տարածաշրջանում՝ այդ թվում և հայ-իրանական երկաթգիծը ներառել իրենց համար էական նշանակություն ունեցող «Նոր Մետաքսի ճանապարհ»-ի շրջանակում: 
Պետք է նշել, որ չինական կողմի համար երկաթուղու կառուցումը սկսելուց հետո հեռանկարում կարևոր նշանակություն կարող է ունենալ դրանից բխող այլ խոշոր ծրագրերի իրականացումը, որոնք կունենան լայն ոլորտային դաշտ: Ուստի անհրաժեշտ է Չիանաստանի ողջ ներուժով համագործակցել Չինաստանի հետ՝ նախատեսելով տարածաշրջանում մոտակա ժամանակներում նրա՝ լուրջ գործոն դառնալը:
